Why would you think so? The article is incredibly vague?
I suppose it could be due to his being 19 (none of that "the name is being withheld because it is a minor), but other than that, is there another link you can post?

Other than that, check, re-check, and check again. The four (3) rules of firearm safety are there for a reason, and redundancy is key.:banghead:

I check mine every week or two, I remove the mag and check the chamber almost obsessively before disassembling.

More likely a suicide cover up as a cleaning accident.

Oh yes, it could be firearms. I am wondering if the medical clinics are going to step up the depression issue with patients. Also Obummer's surgeon general pick Dr. Vivek Hallegere Murthy of the same descent as me will wreak havoc if congress gives him a nod. Here is the article: http://www.theblaze.com/stories/201...l-pick-has-an-interesting-take-ongun-control/
I just don't understand why my kind become such controllers and socialists when they come here.

Because having investigated several so called accidents,

I felt that they were more likely a suicide then an accident but with out a note or witness its easier to rule it an accident.

Unless one is very careless and really not careful its hard to accidently shoot ones self with a long gun where it would be fatal.

I could see a hand, a foot, fingers and the likes the odds are against a body or head shot.

So the moral of the story is if you want it to look like a accident put a few cleaning supplies out and don't tell any body your going to off your self.

Well, it would certainly save the family the hassle of arguing with the insurance company, if your LI policy has a suicide clause.

firearm instructor, you beat me to the punch with the suicide concept. as you pointed out it is extremely difficult to be able to pull the trigger and hit a vital point.

however, to alleviate distress and mitigate embarrassment to the young man's family, this is an equitable way out.

there will be no forensic workup to validate a suicide so this will be the cause of death.

shame when this occurs, when a young adult does not realize there are alternative(s) in lieu of the finality of taking of one's own life to ease whatever pain they are enduring.

it is also extremely hard on those left behind as they second guess they could have stopped the event.

Not at all. The kid had a bright future and was looking forward to going to college. It was a terrible accident that too many people have. Lets stick to the facts and not gossip about his death before more friends of the family show up. And believe me, they are in my contact list.

Small world.

Not to insinuate anything about the person who died, but many suicides had bright futures ahead of them.
Mental health and depression is a complex and deep issue.
Condolences.
