    Hope he gets robbed so often he goes bankrupt. Might as well put up a sign saying "criminals take what you want - money, lives etc...it's all good."

    Not signed, I wonder why?

    Ignorant sign from someone who does not understand why we have the RKBA.

    Sounds like this place needs an open carry demonstration in front of his property.

    SC is a non-OC state, sadly.

    Frankly, I'm all for business owners like him posting their views; the market will either drive him out of business or make him very rich, and based on the smoke from all of his back pedaling, I'm guessing he isn't about to buy a vacation home in the Virgin Isles.

    IIRC, the only times OC of any kind is permitted in this state is on private property (your own or with owners consent) and on your way to or from hunting. Otherwise, no. (IANAL.)

    Seems like the pub owner got the message anyways.

    It's a college town, with brainless college kids looking for a cheap-ish place to drink and eat without driving too far. What, 800 feet from the campus to the greasy spoon? No big deal. Spend your money elsewhere.

    My off-the-cuff analysis is that this may be true in the short term. In the long term, bad publicity can easily destroy a business.

    Heck, even in the short term it's clear that, for instance, a plane crash is terrible for business, and that the statement "there is no such thing as bad publicity" is therefore absurd.

    In fact, that aphorism sounds a lot like "common sense" if you ask me.

    I have come to the sad conclusion that in these times, common sense is extremely uncommon. :what:

    On another forum I'm on, they were saying his permit doesn't look real. Can anyone confirm this?

    Not sure that it makes too much of a difference either way:
    If he doesn't have a permit, but is claiming he does, he's a liar and an anti-Freedom advocate.
    If he DOES have a permit, he's a hypocrite, a FUDD (do unto thee, but not to me), AND and anti-Freedom advocate.

    Whichever way you look at it, he's proven to be an enemy of Freedom* (by the phrase "acta non verba", actions speak louder than words).

    *He could have simply exercised his private property Rights by banning LEGALLY-CARRIED firearms within his business, but instead chose to attack all carriers for exercising their Rights.

    Let's Rise above it!!

    While the sign makes no rational sense, the owner does have the right to post it. Let's all rise above the situation. We shouldn't wish anything bad happen there because of the sign. Rather, those of you in the area should visit the competition (often.) One step at a time.

    Based on "non-gun" related critiques of the food, service, staff, and "ambiance", this minor incident is likely just one more nail in the coffin so to speak. It seems that a gun in that establishment is the very least of management's worries.

    If one looks as RKBA as also a civil right, then no - he does not have the right to post that any more than saying "No Irish"

    No, David "Might Makes Right" McBeth. Government does not create rights. Government was not able to create a right for Irishmen to go wherever they wish. Government instead infringes on the right of Irish-haters to ban the Irish from their establishments.

    Based on the instruction given to me by my CCW instructor who is a retired US Marshall and helped write SC handgun laws and advises district attorneys on how to interpret those laws.

    YOU CAN LEGALLY IGNORE HIS SIGN

    The only thing he can do if your handgun accidentally becomes visible and he sees it or someone sees it and complains is he can ask you to leave and can only prosecute you if you refuse to do so

    Here is the SC law on the signs

    SECTION 23-31-235. Sign requirements.

    (A) Notwithstanding any other provision of this article, any requirement of or allowance for the posting of signs prohibiting the carrying of a concealable weapon upon any premises shall only be satisfied by a sign expressing the prohibition in both written language interdict and universal sign language.

    (B) All signs must be posted at each entrance into a building where a concealable weapon permit holder is prohibited from carrying a concealable weapon and must be:

    (1) clearly visible from outside the building;

    (2) eight inches wide by twelve inches tall in size;

    (3) contain the words "NO CONCEALABLE WEAPONS ALLOWED" in black one-inch tall uppercase type at the bottom of the sign and centered between the lateral edges of the sign;

    (4) contain a black silhouette of a handgun inside a circle seven inches in diameter with a diagonal line that runs from the lower left to the upper right at a forty-five degree angle from the horizontal;

    (5) a diameter of a circle; and

    (6) placed not less than forty inches and not more than sixty inches from the bottom of the building's entrance door.

    (C) If the premises where concealable weapons are prohibited does not have doors, then the signs contained in subsection (A) must be:

    (1) thirty-six inches wide by forty-eight inches tall in size;

    (2) contain the words "NO CONCEALABLE WEAPONS ALLOWED" in black three- inch tall uppercase type at the bottom of the sign and centered between the lateral edges of the sign;

    (3) contain a black silhouette of a handgun inside a circle thirty-four inches in diameter with a diagonal line that is two inches wide and runs from the lower left to the upper right at a forty-five degree angle from the horizontal and must be a diameter of a circle whose circumference is two inches wide;

    (4) placed not less than forty inches and not more than ninety-six inches above the ground;

    (5) posted in sufficient quantities to be clearly visible from any point of entry onto the premises.

    does his sign look like this?

    If not then it is not an enforceable sign.

    YOU CAN LEGALLY IGNORE HIS SIGN...
    Yes, but the only reason we'd want to ignore it is to patronize his establishment and give this d-bag (he signed the sign) money.
