On October 23, 2013, student Nicholas Saucier recorded on video a conversation with Governor Malloy, who was speaking at ACC that day. Saucier asked Malloy questions about recent gun legislation, and the conversation was halted abruptly when Malloy got into his car and left. A second recording shows ACC President James Lombella and a campus security officer leading Saucier off campus.
The college did not end up punishing the student .. but did make him go through a bunch of crapola ...
I filed an oral FOIA request today with the college, they demanded a written request (citing federal FOIA Act law).
Of course, a written request is not needed under a common law or state FOIA Act request to inspect records (see FIC Case 1988-399, http://www.state.ct.us/foi/1989FD/FIC1988-399.htm). And demanded that I ID myself, which is also not something that they can demand (see FIC Case 2004-264).
So a complaint with the FIC will be filed.
We must stay vigilant on these public officials who think that our rights are toilet paper.
Did the governor ask for this kid to be disciplined? I'll file a FOIA request tomorrow with his office.
