    Good News for ILL-inois Citizens?

Just heard on the radio news, local STL station, the "no FOID for you if you have a medical weed card" has been dropped from a (gun?) bill. Missed the part about what bill the proposal was in. Good news for ILL-inois citizens.

Illinois: Gun language scrubbed from medical marijuana program rules

"The Illinois Department of Public Health has decided to drop the provision requiring the forfeiture of firearms for patients and caregivers in a medical cannabis program. When first introduced in January, the new Medical Cannabis Pilot Program (MCPP) in which qualified individuals can receive medical marijuana for therapy required participants to effectively surrender their rights to possess a firearm. According to the Associated Press, regulators working on the final draft for the program have removed such language.

AFT "There are no exceptions ... even if sanctioned by state law."

In an open letter (pdf) to all FFLs published by the BATFE in 2011, the agency made clear that “There are no exceptions in federal law for marijuana purportedly used for medicinal purposes, even if such use is sanctioned by state law.”
