On 20 APRIL 2014, my photography assistant and I were taking still shots around the Westlake Park area, in Seattle, WA. A group of men saw me open carrying and decided to have a candid discussion regarding firearms, self-defense, and laws pertaining to open carry. These men were genuinely curious and it was a great time to engage in civil discussion with people who wanted to learn more about why citizens open carry. We also discussed civil liberties and rights of free people.

I think what is important to take from this video is citizens can, in fact, approach open carriers and meaningful conversations are possible. We are not the "boogey men" the fear based media/society has made us out to be. We are ready and willing to engage in dialogue with people who wish to do so.

Not having a microphone makes the audio challenging to make out. My assistant was also practicing discreet documenting, or "shooting from the hip." I think her first time came out damn fine.
