i tried to volunteer for jury duty

The law in California says that jurors must be selected at random. Therefore, people cant volunteer.

The cops got lucky on this one.

Your location says Idaho. Were you trying to go to California and volunteer as a "non Resident Juror??" Can't understand why they wouldn't want to allow that? They've already got enough non resident Mexicans there, why not allow somebody from other states too.
