I wonder if this negative evolution of the criminal is in any way linked or related to the negative evolution of other types of people that we are seeing. For instance, these kids that are pulling stunts like making these dangerous 911 calls. It would seem to me that there is a general degradation which is effecting all of society, from the criminals to the children. What would be to blame for this?
Agreed. And I honestly have no idea. I think that's the million dollar question my friend. Depending on who you ask someone will have have a different cause/boogey man.
Videogames, TV, economy on a downswing, lack of family units (no dads or dad is in jail), lack of religion in families or society, desensitization of violence in general, etc. Etc.
If I had to wager I would put D all of the above. I've seen screwed up kids first hand. I know the areas I tend to see more of them and I can usually guess the family structure (lack of) before I ever walk in the door and hear the story. But its by no means exclusive to said neighborhoods. Sometimes its the stuff in the real nice areas that surprises you.
I would wager there is a damn near Universal degradation .
For example, I use sir/ma'am with basically everyone. Old, young (not kids but even early 20s college age younger then me) doesn't matter. It NEVER fails when I'm at a store and I ask the cashier "how are you today ma'am?" Or at the doctors "thank you ma'am I appreciate it" I will damn near always get asked "where are you from? When I explain I was born and raised in a not so nice area of MA they then immediately ask, military? I then say yes (used to can't anymore
) . People up here automatically assume that if you are polite and respectful that your from the south or in the military and its forced on you.
Now what has caused that to occur? Why do adults my age or older not use common courtesy? Why is it literally befuddling to people up here when they meet a guy who does use said courtesy? I always take the opportunity to ask the person why they are surprised and assumed I was from out of town, they always respond because its unheard of around here. Well wtf.... so you bet your a$$ my son will be using sir/ma'am to everyone. At least there will be 2 guys in this city that do.
