Hello -

We are looking for "open carry" enthusiasts to follow for a film project (not a reality show). We are seeking individuals who are passionate gun owners to allow us to spend a day with you following you around, going about your day-to-day routine with your gun.

- We are interested in your day to day to lives as lawyer, realtor, farmer, bank clerk, etc.
- We are interested in the reasons you carry your gun with you and who you are as a person.
- Do you have any anecdotes or stories regarding carrying your firearm?

Please email a picture, a brief bio and perhaps a story or two you would like to share.

gundoc14@gmail.com

Many thanks!

Well, I'd do it, but at the end of the day, y'all would be: "Well, that was boring."

Welcome to OCDO Jabble.

It is generally considered good form when making such requests to give us a bit more background on yourself:

  • For whom do you work?
  • Example(s) of your past efforts.
  • How will the is story be told and by whom?
There are recognized spokespersons in each state RKBA orgs. Work through them and if they buy what you are selling, they'll be happy to put you in touch with a good cross section representation.

Danger, will robinson! Danger!

A gmail account? Really?

How about some links to work you have already done? Maybe a CV for the top 2 or 3 folks involved in the "project"?

Could we get info on who you are looking to sell this project to? Are you doing it on speculation, or do you have a contract?

Your approach sets off all sorts of alarm bells, and we are not even getting into determining your views/attitudes on RKBA yet.

Would you send me a picture of yourself, a brief bio, and perhaps a story or two you would like to share about film projects?

BTW - we've been around the block a few times on this subject. A very few who were willing to show their cards up front and got some cooperation, and a whole lot whose entire approach was "Trust me."

stay safe.

Not a very good beginnng for the OP when he doesnt read the Forum Rules and creates multiple threads in violation of rule # 7

(7) NO SPAMMING: Links to spam/membership sites not related directly to firearms are NOT allowed under any circumstances! It is also considered spamming to post the same thread (even valid ones) to multiple forums.

Have merged the 2 threads.

More Info on our project

Hi All -

My name is Josh and I am a documentary film producer in Los Angeles. We are making a film about the way guns affect the lives of different people. We are not making an anti-gun documentary, but exploring "Guns in America" through hearing from those who actually live with them in their lives. I am sure many of you carry firearms for specific reasons and have many insights to share.

Our team has a long track record of successful feature films, documentaries and commercials under our belt.

As I am new to the forum and I wasn't sure where to post my inquiry, I did post my request twice in the forum. I would be happy to share more about the project via phone or email should anyone interested like to continue the conversation and hear more about the project.

Many thanks,

Josh

Sorry, Josh. Not acceptable.

Post about the project here, and include links to previous works.

As previously stated, we have been to this rodeo before. Vague assurances do not fly around here. Reviews of previous work, plus possibly some looking up your internet/social network presence to vett your claims, are getting to be the norm for folks who say they are interested in "doing a project" about people who own firearms. You may be just what we are looking for to put across our messages, but you are going to have to provide some assurances/proofs. Not your fault but the fault of those who came before you.

stay safe.

Stories of daily carry

I agree with previous post.

Have to admit, I was starstruck at the prospect of getting into a movie. That lasted about a minute. Then reality set in.
Who is this guy?
Why is he here REALLY?
How will this project be presented?
WHO is backing this project?
Who has he worked with in the past?
What was their position on gun ownership of private citizens?

I might be on board with this "Project". Or I might be opposed to it and recommend that you be banned from this website.

Right now I don't know enough either way to say definitively.

We would need to see who you are. You asked for us to give you info about us. How about you start? You show us everything you wanted to see from us.
Then we'll go from there.

Please understand, we are not an off putting bunch of stick-in-the-mud Redneck Survivalists with 9 teeth in our heads.
We are professionals with families. Many are highly educated and have been working in their particular field or profession for many years or decades. (I've been a mechanic since 1987)
And if we have a CCW(Carry Concealed Weapon) Permit, we have been thoroughly investigated by several government entities and found clean as well as demonstrating proficiency with that weapon before they allow us to carry concealed in public.
We are above board.
We know the law and observe it.

AND we have been demonized by just about every segment of popular media in existence today.
Put yourself in our shoes.
We do everything right that we are asked to do by our government.
And then we are painted as crazies, lunatic fringe, backwoods, anti-social, uneducated, wild eyed loons WHO CARRY GUNS IN PUBLIC!! (Cue woman scream sound tract here)
See what I mean?

And so we are cautious.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

When are you guys in Virginiawood going to make a movin' pitcher about the rest of us OC'ers around the US of A? :D
Most all of the video work is done on location in Ol' Virginia - user Peter Nap has made some noteable contributions.

Auditions for casting calls might involve some travel

We do enjoy showing visitors from other states the sights after a nice sit down meal though - tend do do quite a bit of that.

Which part? The sit down meals, or the sight showing? ;)
Some people live to eat - I eat to live........and I'm almost holding my own :)

We've "entertained" visitors to the Old Dominion from PA, MD, NC, SC, FL, ME, WVA + other states that escape me right now, France, and even north of the Ni[SUP]*[/SUP]. Will be doing it again soon for a brother from TX.

[SUP]*[/SUP]That's an inside joke. The Ni River is as far north as a good ol' boy, southern gentleman type, will travel w/o an interpreter and armed escort.

Have you met any knights up there? Perhaps some who enjoy a good shrubbery?
