County doesn't care what the law says, "That's Illegal!"

Grady Co. sticking to guns on park gun ban

Grady County Commissioners are saying no to firearms at Barber Park.

County leaders are standing by their decision that flies in the face of a recently passed state law. When you drive through the gates into Barber park, county leaders say you'll have to leave your guns at home.

"We just don't believe that's necessary, so by a vote of 5 to 0 the commission voted not to allow firearms, at our recreation facility," said commission chairman T. D. David.

The decision comes after the Georgia General Assembly passed and Governor Deal signed a law that allows guns to be carried into bars, churches and some government buildings but the David says it's just not the right choice for his county.
Aside from the fact that House Bill 60 doesn't have a single, solitary thing to do with firearms on public property or public parks the count commissioners are apparently in ignorant bliss of Georgia Code 16-11-173, which states in part:
(2)(b)(1) No county or municipal corporation, by zoning or by ordinance, resolution, or other enactment, shall regulate in any manner gun shows; the possession, ownership, transport, carrying, transfer, sale, purchase, licensing, or registration of firearms or components of firearms; firearms dealers; or dealers in firearms components.
Ed Stone, a founding member of GeorgiaCarry.Org, Atlanta Gun Rights Examiner author, and a heck of a lawyer in his own right has sent a Demand to Repeal letter to the Grady County Board of Commissioners.

Better to not open your mouth and be thought the fool, than to open it and remove all doubt.

There is no "positive resolution" .. only a resolution. Either they carry or they don't.
