I work for a Target store in the Spokane area as a loss prevention officer or "Target Protection Specialist." I am very vocal about the fact that Target is open-carry friendly and our corporate-level policies say that guests who are carrying a weapon in accordance with the law should not be bothered (as it should be). I even go so far as to thank guests for carrying whenever I see them in my store. Several of them have turned out to be members of these forums.
A few times now I have seen a particular guest come in shopping with his wife and child. The first time, he was open-carrying and did not attempt to hide it. I planned to shake his hand as usual but when he and his wife approached the front if the store to check out, he saw me standing there and I think he felt intimidated or thought I was going to tell him to leave (I wear a security uniform, complete with badge and duty belt, but not gun; go figure). He went to the bathroom and after a very long time he came back out and joined his wife to leave... with his gun poorly concealed under his shirt. Now, it is not my policy to draw attention to conceal-carriers so I did not engage with him at this point.
I have seen him several times in the store since then and he is always concealing, but usually very poorly with holster visible and the gun printing quite obviously. Again, I don't want to "call him out" but I do want him to know he is welcome to OC of he wishes.
So, I'm hoping he's a member here and he sees this post and stops worrying about the big mean Target cop and will OC to his heart's content
