I think the host focused a bit too much on the tactical pros/cons of concealed carry vs open carry. All in all, I think that Mike did a good job of presenting himself. I just wish that he would have had a bit better of a chance to explain his position, but he kept getting cut-off in different parts and wasn't able to fully flesh out his argument. Over-all I think that it was good, but I was still left feeling kind of disappointed. The time-limit placed on the interview hurt the segment. It was just too short.

Realy??? ktrs the same show frank opinion blasted open carry today???/

frank opinion( alas john craddock) blasted away with out any concern against open carry individuals as stupid, jerks and misguided fools!!!

in reference to target stores he went on tirade about how dumb and stupid open carry people are..how misinformed they were and how he

knew better and tho he has ccw, and carries all the time, even in stores that prohibit it he would not want any open carry around him.

He felt open carry is for fools and people that need to feel big with a gun..soooo demeaning and mean spirited like he has the answer and

all wisdom concerning gun laws...someone please!!! write this station and this arrogant so and so at" frankopinion dot com" and tell him what u think

and wonder if the gun store who advertises on his show knows how he insults open carry citizens..and the repercussion's to where they spend their

dollars....pistols plus is the advertiser..write McGraw.milhaven @ ktrs..also

Yeah...I actually quit listening to the podcast one caller after the interview. My previous post was done right after Mike finished talking so I was still somewhat optimistic at that point, but right afterwards the host just went on and on about how tactically superior CCW is compared to Open Carry and how people that open carry are at such a huge risk of getting killed in order to have their gun stolen (using police getting attacked for their weapons as an example). Then blathering on about how it would be better for a person carrying concealed would have the advantage over several individuals carrying openly in a restaurant.

It was all ludicrous and all of his arguments are so easily countered. Carrying in an open fashion does not equate to having giant, flashing, neon signs attached to the person stating that they have a gun. There aren't really any verified accounts of private citizens being attacked in order to have their gun stolen. I think that I may have heard of one but I have no idea where that article is located and I really don't feel like wasting the time to dig it up. Also, people generally aren't that observant. If anyone has watched any of those dumb criminals TV shows or internet clips, there are several that have would be robbers attempting to rob a store only to be foiled by a uniformed police officer that they didn't notice on their way in. That is much more blatant than an individual that is dressed normally with a handgun in his holster.

If he wanted to stick to the tactical argument, he mentioned one person being able to take down six open carrying individuals in the space of 3 seconds. Sure, there might be the theoretical possibility of a person with a handgun being able to do that, but your run of the mill criminal certainly is not that highly trained to be able to put 6 well placed shots to take down 6 individuals in the space of 3 seconds. The only way that would be even somewhat possible is if the criminal was armed with a fully automatic rifle and sprayed 30 rounds into that group. All of this is still depending on the fact that the criminal took the time to scope out the place and notice that there are 6 armed individuals sitting down at a table that he should focus on before everyone else in the restaurant. Again, that sort of thing rarely happens in real life. In an actual real world situation an individual openly carrying a firearm in the majority of situations would probably be better off than the individual with a CCW for the tactical advantage of the openly carried firearm being easier and quicker to unholster than a concealed firearm.
