Please tell me your kidding.... That isn't even funny....

Nope...happened to a member here and he posted the audio. He sued the department over the encounter (There were other things they did)....but took it to Federal court which is a mistake in this district. The judge agreed the cops were way off base but needed to be cut some slack because they are the thin blue line.

Bubba law: "It's illegal for you to carry in Virginia without a permit"

My reply "Actually, their statutes specify only concealed carry. Open carry is legal with no permit by default."

Bubba law reply: "That's only for residents of Virginia. Non-residents have to have a permit and can't legally carry openly."

That may one day be the case. There have been several attempts to require such guns to have [strike]silencers[/strike] suppresors and high capacity drum magazines

then the statement/wishful thought should have been for a magazine with MORE than 20 rounds, not LESS than ......

Fallicies:

You can't carry a loaded long gun.

If you conceal carry, you can't print or accidentally reveal.

You have to notify police if and how you're carrying.

You have to do whatever the clerk tells you to get a CHP.

You have to keep your firearm in a closed container while in a vehicle.

They don't do background checks at gun shows.

There's no such thing as an assault firearm.

The sad part is he could be right.

Even worse, you don't need to do anything with a firearm at all.... lets not forget that a man was charged with Brandishing for 'pointing his finger'.

That's a hell of a thing to have to take to your grave, isn't it?

And Grapeshot, it was the rent-a-cop, not the deputy. You remember, the combat veteran warehouse inventory-taker.

stay safe.

In this case, it is hard to tell one Keystone Cop from the other - they both spent so much time tripping over their words.

In VA a cop can get an arrest warrant based purely on hearsay, without the witness making a sworn written statement.

oh wait, that one is true ....
