Florence Mall had another open carrier removed 07/27. I rarely visit the mall but cannot recall seeing any signs posted. I think I've seen a picture of a policy listing no weapons but someone in the middle of the list (or end??). Anyway, to take it a step further they do not enforce their own policy. Instead, they call the police to come escort the "person with a gun" out. I just wanted to let anyone thinking of going to this mall know what to expect if they do decide to visit.

At least there was no illegal detainment or illegal seizure with this incident. All the same, I'll never go there.

Could you tell me how you heard about this? I would like to gather more information about the incident. I appreciate all you have.

I can't really provide any more details (there really aren't any more to provide). I will just throw out a reminder that copies of all calls for the Florence mall can be obtained through the records department located in the Florence City building. There was/is no issue with Florence PD (no one detained). I just do not think the mall handles these situations correctly. I wasn't sure so I stopped out, and while I can't say I checked every door, the ones I did look at were not posted. Normally that is a good thing.
