Thomas Sowell, Is thinking now obsolete?

We have gotten so intimidated by political correctness that our major media outlets dare not call people who immigrate to this country illegally “illegal immigrants.”

The attack against Matt Drudge has been in the classic tradition of demagogues. It turns questions of fact into questions of motive. Geraldo accuses Drudge of trying to start a “civil war.”

Does anyone think that having minimum wage laws and high youth unemployment is better? In fact, does anyone think at all these days?

Certainly it appears that thinking for oneself is obsolete. "Cite? Ya gotta citation for that?" It also appears that fear of error is overweening all. Better a good error than a bad question.

...I'm gunna have to think about this...
"I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it." - Thomas Jefferson.

"Better that ten guilty persons escape, than that one innocent suffer" - English jurist William Blackstone.
It is AFAIK original to me. Compromise is failure on the installment plan, particularly when dealing with so intractable an opponent as ignorance. - Nightmare
