There has been discussion before regarding State Premption Laws and the Clark County parks ordinance prohibiting the obsession of any firearm at Clark County Parks.
http://www.clarkcountynv.gov/depts/...lice/Pages/ClarkCountyCodeRelatedtoParks.aspx

Last month http://www.handgunlaw.us updated their website and added the parks prohibition. It referenced a letter of clarification by the State Attorney General in 2010 saying that the parks ordinance has the force of law and was grandfathered in AB147. http://www.handgunlaw.us/documents/agopinions/NVAGOnClarkCoParkCarryBan.pdf

I have OC'd at the parks a few times before and never had any issues. If confronted I was going to cite Premption Laws and hope for the best. I'm problaby not going to OC in parks anymore. Judging from the AG letter it looks like it would be an uphill battle.

Well, no Clark County parks for me, then.

Is it a misdemeanor or just a citeable offense to carry?

This is not new news guys. You would win in court but you need the time and money to fight.

Also this is why some of us do not use the shooting park. Why use that park, that costs money, when no other county park allows carry? Against state law by the way. Its a county park and somehow they allow weapons in that park. Yet made no new law for it etc.

And neither the NRA or the Nevada state firearms coalition has stepped up to help us.

They changed the name from "Clark County Shooting Park," to Clark "County Shooting Complex" because they knew if the park ordinance were challenged that it would make a difficult argument in court.

Indeed they changed the name BUT they are still listed as part of the parks department. http://www.clarkcountynv.gov/depts/parks/pages/clark-county-shooting-park.aspx

Still seems like good evidence to me that it's still a park. And why can't they just change the rules to say shooting is okay at the shooting complex? I never understood why politicians can't make a simple change in law. They try everything else rather than make a simple change.

And what about the simple change that would save them money when one of us finally sues them to remove their illegal prohibition?
