Mexico is not in NATO ... travel to a non-NATO country and the US can do little. But his response was that of an anti -- does not care at all.

NATO is a treaty organization, not an all-inclusive list of "allies."

That said, I've mixed feelings over the whole affair. Personally, I don't think this dumb-ass deserves special treatment, but I also think ALL those in similar circumstances are being treated unfairly and by bad laws to start with.

The US has much more leverage with NATO countries. I would not travel to Mexico . Mexico is the worst.

The guy did nothing wrong IMO. But in reality, he is screwed.
