Guy with car charged w/impersonating police - case dismissed - an FYI

The Patriot Ledger (http://bit.ly/Yhgwzr ) reports that a clerk magistrate in Quincy District Court on Thursday dismissed the charge, saying 23-year-old Zhang Zhijun, of Braintree, hadn't taken any actions such as pulling over other drivers or pretending to be an officer.





Stupid DA for even going forward with the case and stupid cops too ....

My initial thoughts are confirmed. WTG, guy!

Should have painted POLITE [SUB]-DH[/SUB] , on the doors.

I could be paranoid, or I could be only being realistic, but....

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if the officers knew damn well that the charges weren't going to stick. They accomplished their goal of ruining someone's day that they didn't agree with and there's not a chance in Hades that they are going to suffer in the slightest for it.

I am, however, pleasantly surprised that the majority of posters on PoliceOne.com seem to have the comprehension that 'police impersonation' in Massachusetts requires more than a superficial resemblance to a vehicle to be probable cause.

I would think that the guy who painted the car knew he would be hassled for it ... now he has a case to back up a 42 USC 1983 case if it happens again.

Maybe I'll paint my car ...

Assuming that most of us (with a few notable exceptions) aren't stupid, you'd think that if we could come up with that scenario then trained, professional officers of the law might also.

That only makes the behavior all the more execrable.
