According to a criminal complaint, when Gonzalez was apprehended he told Secret Service agents he was "concerned that the atmosphere was collapsing" and needed to contact the president "so he could get word out to the people."

The media coverage of this is very interesting. They are criticizing the S.S. for not shooting him on sight, or at the very least, for not releasing the hounds on him when he jumped the fence. They are cheerleading for the execution of the trespasser on their king's grounds.
