Obama Brings Up Ferguson at U.N., erupts with new wave of violence, burning, looting

"I know the world also took notice of the small American city of Ferguson, Missouri – where a young man was killed, and a community was divided. So yes, we have our own racial and ethnic tensions. And like every country, we continually wrestle with how to reconcile the vast changes wrought by globalization and greater diversity with the traditions that we hold dear."

    http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/...un_806086.html

The small community of Ferguson, Missouri, broke out in violence and looting again, with those in the streets this time smashing up the windows of a beauty supply store — the third time the shop has been hit by looters in the last few weeks. [ ... ] Meanwhile, the owner of Beauty Town told KMOV that he’s lost more than $100,000 in stolen merchandise in recent weeks.

Yeah, almost choked on my coffee on that one.
What's the normal, rational response to a makeshift memorial catching fire (most likely from an ill-placed candle)? Why, loot a beauty supply shop, of course!

What traditions that we hold dear is he talking about?

The tradition of cops shooting citizens? Maybe the tradition of looting?

    Seriously what does that mean?

Once the grand jury finds that Wilson was justified, which they most assuredly will, I hope they burn down the whole damn city of Ferguson.

Why would you hope they burn down the city? I could see if the prosecutor dropped charges or something crazy, but if the grand jury made up of citizens fails to find probable cause to indict then why wish violence? Unless you can point to some other corruption afoot. And please hold the "it's all corrupt" lines.

Ok. So why would it make you feel better if he was indicted? It would still be a corrupt indictment.

But would the corrupt indictment be ok since it falls in line with personal beliefs/outlook?

It's already being reported that the prosecutor is handpicking the evidence and testimony the grand jury hears. Plus the longgggg delay indicates that the prosecutor is pushing for no indictment.

This is just another time you try to justify abuse by a LEO, and the system. And you keep claiming you care for citizens.

They have more than enough evidence to convict, the grand jury is an excuse to let the SOB get away. I really hope the DOJ steps up to the plate this time and this piece of scum gets life in prison(general population).

The justice system is not infallible. I've based my opinion on the evidence presented. Hell, OJ got away with murder, what makes you think the police can't one-up OJ and get away with excessive force resulting in death, even with witnesses?

Are you claiming you are not supporting the actions of the rouge officer? Cite where a candle caused the fire?

“We will be presenting absolutely everything to this grand jury — every statement that any witness made, every witness, every photograph, every piece of physical evidence,” McCulloch said Wednesday on “The McGraw Show” on KTRS-AM. “Absolutely nothing will be left out.”

The people of Ferguson Mo are trying to have him removed because of his past record and bias.

In what many are calling a possible delay of justice, the Saint Louis Post-Dispatch is reporting that the grand jury charged with determining whether or not Officer Darren Wilson will be charged criminally for the death of Michael Brown now has until January 7th to make their decision. Brown was killed by Wilson on August 9th. Numerous eyewitnesses report that Brown was fatally shots while his hands were in the air in surrender.

According to St. Louis County regulations, most grand juries sit for four months. However, this normal period expired last week, and state law generally allows for grand juries who need longer to sit for six months. Circuit Judge Carolyn Whittington took the state law a step further and issued an order adding an additional 60 days to what is currently allowed for. There are also other aspects of the case that deviate from how most grand juries proceed in St. Louis County.

The problem with rioting is that it seldom hurts the evil people responsible for the righteous outrage felt by the rioters (sans the rioters who are outside agitators or merely opportunistic thieves). If they managed to focus their rage entirely on cops and their enablers, then I'd wholeheartedly applaud them.

if you really cared about murders, you would direct your energy towards somewhere such as chicago, where murder happens on a nearly hourly basis by under priveledged youth.

All you really care about is hate speech directed toward cops.

You probably could have avoided being so graphic. Believe me though I would have no sympathy on him.

Did you notice how walking wolf thinks he should get life in prison? You know, humane punishment in a civilized nature?

You on the other hand said something quite hateful and excessive.

ad hominem won't work here. Sorry. My character has nothing to do with what you said.

While you have a point the murders in Chicago are mostly not state sanctioned murders. We should not have to live in fear of the police. Since I OC, I have a greater chance of a bad encounter with police than criminals. Criminals do not want nothing to do with armed citizens, some police officers target armed citizens. Plus since 9/11 police have not been held up to the high standard they should be.

While SH maybe on the fringe side, his feelings are not just felt by him, and I am a former cop. This behavior must stop, Eric Holder must start prosecuting more cases.

I completely agree. Where I am from, although we have had more that our share of questionable calls by police lately, generally speaking the police in my state have been mostly 2nd amendment and personal freedom-loving. I believe this is because so many of them grew up "country boys" as it were, but who knows.

It's not perfect here, obviously, but some of the stories I hear about police officers in the news(nationally) are appalling to me, as compared to my experience with LEO'S in the places I've lived.

I'm not arguing the point that injustices are being done, I'm calling someone out on childish behavior.

I'm here to discuss a topic like adults. It gets tiresome.
