    Dulles Expo Center Gun Show

Visited the National Gun Show at the Dulles Expo Center yesterday. Visited the VCDL booth, bought (yet another) new holster and mag carrier for the SIG, and helped a friend pick out his first AR-15, a S&W Sporter 15 at a good price (sub-$600). Lots of people there, but several people said that attendance was less than the last time, perhaps due to how many gun shows are being held there each year.

Had to disarm to enter -- no loaded firearms or magazines. Made a point to OC my SIG anyway, even if it had to be made non-op for the visit.

I was there Saturday. I didn't buy anything, though. I was mainly just there to see what was to be seen.

It was a bit less crowded than last time. I've seen it so crowded it was hard to even get down the aisles.

    Dulles Expo Center Gun Show

I was there also, but on Friday. Line was long to get in when I arrived.

Most guns were way over priced. I had 4 in mind to buy:

Sig P320 40 cal (no one had this)
    Ruger SR40
    Taurus 24/7 40
    Walther PPQ M2 40

I knew best online pricing going in so I was well prepared. 90% of the dealers were 20% over priced and a couple were able to offer me solid deals.

One dealer made me the best offer on the Taurus and the walther, but after background cost and 6% tax it was still almost $75 cheaper online to buy 2 guns.

All in all it was just an okay show.

Best deal was popcorn, bottled water and reeses peanut butter cups for $7. At a movie theater that would've run $11ish?

That is why I don't attent most gun shows any more. No deals to be had, and large crowds.

For some folks the crowds are the reason for attending a gun show. "Spot the felon," "the silver bracelet walk of shame," and the ever-favorite "can you believe they are wearing that!?!" are well worth the price of admission, especially if you are volunteering at the VCDL table.

    stay safe.

Oh, I dunno, skid. Richmond is much better than Chantilly for those.

Of course, I worked the VCDL table at two different shows where I had to inform the SAME GUY I would not listen to the fecal matter he was spewing ("The worst thing this country ever did was give blacks and women the right to vote").

Well, that's what you get for living North of the Ni.

You get a crowded gun show with overblown prices, along with impossible traffic and parking two towns away. We get overblown prices, traffic that would make you say the streets are deserted, parking at the worst a football field away, plus a floor show all for the same price.

    stay safe.

But in Doswell....you get underwear holster salesmen pointing un-ziptied 1911 at you telling you how many times he can shoot you before you whup his backsides for pointing it at you.

As one well known CHP instructor there said..."He's quite a salesman"
