Court declares long-prior mental commitment no basis for 2A denial

    http://www.wsj.com/articles/u-s-appe...WhatsNewsThird

    FUQ:

"In the first legal ruling of its type, a federal appeals court in Cincinnati on Thursday deemed unconstitutional a federal law that kept a Michigan man who was briefly committed to a mental institution decades ago from owning a gun."

Are we seeing the courts starting to inject a modicum of reasonableness into their decisions?

The ruling declared that a decades-old previous commitment was not a reasonable basis for denying 2A Rights, especially since the jurisdiction had not constituted a way for the man to be adjudicated as mentally sound and no longer a threat to himself or his community.

Thanks, McBeth, for providing yet another inane comment on a serious issue.

Posters are routinely cautioned regarding misleading statements/replies that do not conform to the article, decision, or law to which reference is made.

Note that no sarcasm or humor is indicated and under the circumstances either would warrant explanation.

A previous thread on the same subject was trashed/highjacked by irrelevant, misleading posts. I am not going to merge them, but let this one stand alone; however, off topic and sidetracking posts will be deleted/edited.

Actually, it was a joke based on a viewpoint. Once you are given the USDA stamp of not being crazy anymore, why should you not automatically get your gun rights back. What does it matter .. 2 weeks v. 20 years?

    Answer that gov't man !
