571.095. Confiscation of firearms and ammunition, when--exceptions.

Upon conviction for or attempting to commit a felony in violation of any law perpetrated in whole or in part by the use of a firearm, the court may, in addition to the penalty provided by law for such offense, order the confiscation and disposal or sale or trade to a licensed firearms dealer of firearms and ammunition used in the commission of the crime or found in the possession or under the immediate control of the defendant at the time of his or her arrest....

The mere presence of a firearm meets the requirement to confiscate under 571.515. But, this is contrary to 571.095.

RSMo 565.076 is a Class A misdemeanor if the first offense, but only if convicted. It takes two more convictions to make 565.076 a Class E misdemeanor. Cops will err on the side of caution and apply this law, 571.515, across the board to CYA.

571.520 desires to make 565.076 grounds to forfeit your gun rights.

Both, and call them (locations) too, both. Get the name of the chief of staff. I found that both locations have folks "working" there. It is crucial that your rep understand that these are extremely important issues to you and that you do indeed discuss these issues with your neighbors and those in the district. If they think the word will get around that he/she will negatively impact our liberties they tend to take notice.

Be polite yet persistent. Give them time to look into the matter and then contact you. I wait about two weeks then start getting a wee bit more bothersome. If you are getting blown-off then put that word out their too.

... gun rights groups have hit back hard at one Missouri lawmaker’s plan to add a tax on guns sold in the state to pay for cameras for police officers. Brandon Ellington, a Democratic lawmaker representing the Kansas City region, introduced separate bills that would require all uniformed police officers to wear body cameras and maintain recordings for 30 days, and would establish a tax on firearm sales to pay for the new mandate,
[ ... ]
The Associated Press, meanwhile, said Mr. Ellington’s measure is one of three dozen other bills that were recently filed on the heels of the St. Louis-area unrest.
