Officers entered the home and cleared the first room. But as they entered the second room, a man identified as Dallas Horton shot Chief Ross three times, twice in his bullet proof vest and once in the arm. OSBI said the chief actually borrowed the bullet proof vest from one of the deputies just before entering the home.

After firing numerous shots, Horton surrendered himself to the officers.

OK, someone enters my house? I'm not the one who will be surrendering.

In addition...

Since they showed video of the police removing ALL his firearms from the home, not just the one he used, I would like to know if they have given him BACK all of his property and apologized. Finally, did they have a WARRANT, of any kind, when they broke in? All I hear is that they "Traced" the bomb threat to him, and went to home after verifying the school clear; no mention of getting a warrant...

The first line of defense is your doors. The problem is a poor weak door design and security issue. The problem is illustrated in this video where a door is simply kicked in. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhscToHlWNM

To solve that problem there is a 2 part solution. First is to reinforce the door jamb with a steel kit such as EZ Armor, Door Jamb Armor, Fix a Jamb or Armor Latch. EZ Armor is now sold at some Menards if you have one near you. Here is a vid to illustrate. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Sj5XZnKpfY

Then I recommend door reinforcement such as this not the little ones in the kit. http://www.amazon.com/Prime-Line-Pr..._sim_hi_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=0ZD3E04AJ2GCY3X9D14Y

Aye!

Absolutely ridiculous that this type of "mistake" keeps happening.

If these leo's can't get an address correct, they are not competent enough to wear a badge or be in any position of trust.

Attempted Murder. Reckless Endangerment, False Imprisonment, Trespassing, Double Parking....etc.....etc......etc...... Throw the book at them, make them pay in their personal capacity.....

Aye! Aye! Aye!

Until they are held accountable, this will keep happening.
