See no retriction(s) relevant to you as to purchasing/possessing a long gun.

You may not buy a handgun from an FFL, but may do so from a private party.

Did you mean to have a 'may not be able to' up there? Or are you using 'may not buy' as a 'shall not buy'? I didn't see anything about a misdemeanor -arrest- for shop-lifting in the code.

    TIA

It is a "mother may I" thing.

He is restricted from purchasing a handgun from an FFL by federal law.

(Forehead slap) OH, 21 years old. He's 19. Duh.

It's all in the details and boy are there ever 'details'. TY for the link.

ETA: ironic in that the ATF is creating their own loophole. You can't buy from an FFL but (depending on state) you can acquire by other legal means.

/I hope nobody tells them./sarcasm font.

If shoplifting is not a felony in Indiana, and/or your records are sealed and cannot be accessed for the purpose of firearms ownership, I would say you are good to go. Just go to a friendly LGS and ask them to do a check on you, if they are decent they will do it for a small fee, or free. You should find out in about 15 minutes if there is a problem.
