Ms. Turner considered defending herself with an old knife that belonged to her husband, but opted for her pistol instead.
    Good choice!

<chuckle> Which gun-writer calls that an "error in the victim selection process?"

I've met too many cranky old ladies. If I were a crook, the last person I'd try to rob would an old lady. Between knitting needles, guns, and who-knows what else, a fella could get hurt.

I'll make you an offer: I will argue and fight for all of your rights, if you will do the same for me. That is the only way freedom can work. We have to respect all rights, all the time--and strive to win the rights of the other guy as much as for ourselves.

If I am equal to another, how can I legitimately govern him without his express individual consent?

There is no human being on earth I hate so much I would actually vote to inflict government upon him.

And rightfully so. I knew a cranky old lady, when we were young and in college together, that carried a hat-pin (That's not a hat-pin, THIS is a HAT-PIN). In our sophomore year she was in Dubrovnik, then Yugoslavia, on the waterfront where tourist ladies shouldn't ought'a go, and broke a mugger's jaw.
