Cicero is generally regarded by scholars as Rome's greatest orator. He was a contemporary of Julius Caesar. While Caesar was busy trying to use the decline of Roman Republic (before the emperors) to his own advantage, Cicero applied himself to saving the Republic. His oratory is almost legendary.
In a post in another thread, Deepdiver linked a written article that happened to be written by Daniel Hannan. Hannan is high on my list for his defense of rights and liberty. His prominence in part arises from representing a part of England in the European Parliament. While linking one of Hannan's speeches for that thread, I came across more of Hannan's oratory. At the link below he debates at Oxford University against socialism.
It is a thirteen minute oration. When I was done listening, I had to ask myself, "Has Cicero been reborn a liberty-minded capitalist?" Its really that good.
