Interesting story about former CNNers. Hard to read story about what really was going on, but looks like dead Perp should not have shot at former Green Beret:

"A former CNN correspondent was shot three times late Tuesday night during an attempted robbery at an Albuquerque motel.

Former CNN anchor and Manzano High School graduate Lynne Russell told Action 7 News she and her husband were robbed at gunpoint at the Motel 6 near Coors and Iliff around 11:30 p.m.

Her husband, Chuck de Caro, worked as a correspondent for CNN as well."

Comments are pretty good -
1) Bryan Williams hasn't reported if was involved with this, and
2) Hillary Clinton was reminded of her landing in Bosnia when she was under sniper fire...

HPMATT, you beat me to it! I was about to post this story myself.

I do wonder if the couple worked closely with Piers "America should be disarmed like my native Britain" Morgan?

It would make some interesting discussion at the CNN water cooler.

Piers Morgan: What did you do this weekend? I did my usual rant agains gun ownership.
Lynne Russel: My husband Chuck shot and killed a robber in our motel room.
Piers Morgan: Well, surely, you don't belive that shooting the robber was the best course of resolution!?
Lynne Russel: Worked for us. Oh! Hey! Who brought those donuts!?

Best quote from Lynne (about gun she slipped into her purse):
"'Is there anything in here we can give him?'" Russell said she asked. "Chuck said, 'Oh, yes, there is.'"

-says de Caro is a 'former soldier' - is this really true? maybe desk jockies, but guys in combat or special forces? Do you really get over it?

-he was shot 3 times - 1 in leg and 2 in torso - NBC says she told it was a 40 caliber and it sounds from like across the bed
-they had 2 guns - Lynne says Chuck emptied one into the perp then started using the 2nd gun - yowsa
-chose Motel 6 because they allow dogs

Here's the CNN article:
http://www.cnn.com/2015/07/01/us/new-mexico-motel-shooting/

Looks like the 2 of them got married in Sept 2014. She's got a black belt.

'People Magazine' article for those OCers that don't have the 'People' phone app....

doesn't have comments but 91/104 votes are in favor of their actions...

Washington Times doesn't add much here, other than might be read by someone inside the Beltway.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2015/jul/6/lynne-russell-former-cnn-anchor-second-amendment-s/

Looks like Lynne really doesn't understand much about the difference between state & federal laws and the 2A:

"She said the government should pass a blanket gun control law that states,
'If you committed a violent crime you can’t get a gun permit. Simple law.' "

As if criminals seek permits to own firearms....

I had someone try to pull a room invasion on me in the west end of Albuquerque just off of I-40.
When I announced I had a 45, they had changed their minds! They had a key to the room (the credit card kind) and I was lucky the chain held on the night chain dealy.
