Could fishing be the best route to open carry in Illinois?

Illinois has an exemption to their UUW law for open carry when "hunting, trapping, or fishing" just like anti open carry Florida.

    This case is making inroads.

It may be helpful to post a cite to the relevant Illinois statute so that the idea may be vetted a bit more. My advice would be to verify the exemption with a knowledgeable attorney and then organize a few group OC fishing outings (safety in numbers).

It would be a good idea to notify the local authorities and media in advance since education of LEOs and the public would be, in my opinion, the primary purpose of such an event.

    Good luck and have fun!

I found the law a couple years ago but have no idea how I did.

We have this legislature dot gov and you can use the search or arrows and see all the Mi laws.

Does Ill have a site to the actual laws like Michigan? ??

In my view, open carry isn't really purely for sporting/hunting purposes. I think the first focus before OC in the police state of IL, should be expanding legal defense options. Batons, Tasers, Knives typically used for defense/survival, such as the KA-BAR. Also, there are hardly any walmarts with arms in them. Not to mention there is the FOID Card issue, and muzzleloaders and tasers are considered firearms in IL. So there are quite a few things needing change/repeal before an open carry push starts. There is also the fact that trainers, aka co2 handguns cannot be shipped to certain counties in IL.
