Thomas Massie - KY Cosponsors HR 86 "Safe Students Act" to Repeal Gun Free Zones Act

Thomas Massie of KY Cosponsors HR 86 "Safe Students Act" to Repeal Gun Free Zones Act of 1990

I'm proud to say that my Congressman, Thomas Massie of the 4th District of Kentucky has introduced this.

"My Northern Kentucky district office is NOT a gun-free zone. Gun-free zones make people less safe.

That’s why I’ve introduced H.R. 86, the Safe Students Act, which would repeal the Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990.

Gun-free school zones are ineffective. They make people less safe by inviting criminals into target-rich, no-risk environments. Gun-free zones prevent law-abiding citizens from protecting themselves, and create vulnerable populations that are targeted by criminals.

A bigger federal government can’t solve this problem. Weapons bans and gun-free zones are unconstitutional. They do not and cannot prevent criminals or the mentally ill from committing acts of violence. But they often prevent victims of such violence from protecting themselves.

Thank you Congressman Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA), Congressman Steven Palazzo (R-MS), Congressman Louie Gohmert (R-TX), Congressman Jim Bridenstine (R-OK), Congressman Jeff Duncan (R-SC), and Rep. Rob Bishop R-UT) for co-sponsoring #HR86.
