Hughes Springs Police Chief calls for US citizens to Arm

When I worked for the East Texas steel mill we would fly in from Dallas and take our New York and European bankers to tour the mill. We would then take them to lunch in Hughes Springs at the Hickory Chip BBQ/Land Office/Gun store restaurant. You could buy a farm, a 38 and ammo, and a chopped beef sandwich in one place. Their eyes would bug out when going through the line.

I think he has already said that confiscation is the way to go ...

In CT, they had registration ... hardly anyone did register although previously all gun sales required the state to be given the buyer's information and gun information; so they already know the many folks who did not register.

Yet the state has done nothing...has not gone out and gone to people's houses to search and arrest.

How would confiscation work? They gonna ask for your guns to be dropped off or a Karina type of collection?

Hughes Springs, TX. Really? Population 1760. Becoming police chief would take almost nothing except asking for the job.
Substitute headline would be "small town big shot shoots off mouth"
    No news here.

Best to read the preceeding posts and links.

Chief Randy Kennedy of Hughes Springs, TX is pro self-defense, pro RKBA.

My point was that he is of no consequence, not what his position is or is not.

More or less consequence than an anonymous TAPATALK user?

On exactly that same order of magnitude. It is ludicrous to "report" on the musings of a very small town LE chief.

Still your words have a major negative ring to them.

Are we only going to lend an ear and give credit to leaders of our largest municipalities? Sincerely hope not because some a really out of step.

Most all of the big fish started as a much smaller fish in what might be described as a pond.

Pity the patriots from the founding of our nation - some of them came from nowhere.

Of course there is the defining phrase: Collectively, we are a force to be reckoned with.

No harm in him being pro (and little harm if he was anti), just pointing out that it was a slow news day for AP if they are mentioning this guy. He isn't insignificant, just not newsworthy.

Well surely you are entitled to your opinion on the matter.

I OTOH have been watching the growing trend in Sheriffs (elected officials) and Sheriff's associations to embrace and promoted the people's right to self-defense - from Arkansas, Texas, Florida, Pennsylvania, New York, and Arizona to name a few.

500 Sheriffs Stand With Second Amendment
Enlisted 500 sheriffs to stand with CSPOA in defense of the Second Amendment.

    300 Sheriffs Constitutionally Trained
CSPOA has trained 300 Sheriffs on the Constitution and the oath of office. Each and every one of these Sheriffs now has a full understanding of the Constitution and the rights it provides to American citizens.

Notably for me, Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke and Charleston County Sheriff Al Cannon are members. Unfortunately only three of Wisconsin's seventy-two county sheriffs are members. Door County Sheriff Steve Delarwelle is not a member.

Agree. I kinda like that a small town LEO is speaking his mind as I think that all too often, for example, places like Houston speak as if they ARE the ONLY authority that matters. There are lots of small towns, and collectively each small town or county LEO that speaks out is one more tally on our side for things like addressing the legislature (who get told that "all" LEO want or don't want something).

Would be better if all top LEOs would not enforce prior restraint gun laws...

Sheriff Danny Diggs is a GREAT example. While not a tiny municipality, his territory/responsibility is not a mega population center either.
He and his family have attended local OC dinners. He has spoken up repeatedly regarding personal rights to self-defense.

Danny wears his ethics on his sleeve. One of the best departments in the state, maybe in the country......tall words I know. Would clone him if I could.

I like him a lot, met him once at a function in Yorktown. I love the way that he tells it like it is.

They used to meet at the Country Inn Restaurant on Rt.17- if you were there back in 2010, we might have met as I attended several there in that time frame.

Yupper, that was the place. Think I also had a lunch with him in the downtown area, as I was teaching a class attended by some of his folks but that time was earlier than that.

County Grill <http://www.countygrill.com/yorktown/>, but yes, he is good people. The wait staff would sometimes end up wearing orange Guns Save Lives stickers. Twas cool when you and your partner-in-crime (Skid) could make it down this way.

You mentioned York County being neither large nor small. That's kinda how I've described it too. Population is about 65,000.

Howdy Dr Mark, a familiar name from my HR/VB days!

That County Grill sounds familiar as the previous place!
