Keene, Johnson Co.independent school district allows armed teachers/educators.

School board members in Keene approved a policy that would allow a few select staff members inside its four campuses to carry a gun. The carriers would be selected by the district, who would do so only if they wanted to and would carry a gun provided by the district.

Superintendent Ricky Stephens was against the idea when he was hired three years ago, but multiple school shootings across the country have changed his views on arming teachers.

Argyle adopted a similar proposal last year, as have several other districts across the state.

Not ideal yet, but a move in the right direction at least.

We've got to respect a man who can change his views as more data becomes available. Even if the change in views is not yet fully what we'd like.
