FDA looking at tanning booths .... this seems wrong

Tanning booths are not food, nor medicine. So they going to try to regulate everything that's possibly harmful? Sunlight causes cancer too.

We have allowed the state to become financially responsible for healthcare as the general welfare of the Constitution. The state then has the need and the duty to minimize costs by minimizing exposure. Your same argument should apply to exposure to drugs, as does mine.

When I am no longer my brother's keeper, no longer financially responsible for his misfortunes, then we can legalize drug abuse.

Their goal is to regulate the sun. The FDA refuses to be outdone by the EPA. EPA regulating carbon dioxide is child's play to regulating the sun.....And the USSC will be happy to accommodate agency rule.

US Drug Overdose Deaths Hit NEW Record High says CDC yesterday 18 Dec 2015

    http://www.nbcnews.com/health/health...c-says-n482746

We disbelieve the CDC on guns, shall we disbelieve them on drugs too, and based on what, experience?

In 2014, the five states with the highest rates of death due to drug overdose were West Virginia, New Mexico, New Hampshire, Kentucky and Ohio. States with statistically significant increases in the rate from 2013 to 2014 included Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia. http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwr...=mm64e1218a1_e

The tanning industry has been killing people for years and they have proven to be irresponsible. FDA can probably claim domain because the booths are a potentially dangerous radiation-producing machine.

Provision for free medical attendance and nursing, for clothing, for food, for housing, for the education of children, and a hundred other matters, might with equal propriety be proposed as tending to relieve the employee of mental strain and worry. --- These matters obviously lie outside the orbit of congressional power. There is no credible research showing that the radiation from modern cell phones cause disease on the scale of tanning booths. Although I'm sure we will learn much in the future, we should definitely not regulate based on "maybe" and "what might be".
(That phrase "modern cell phones" sounds so wrong, but I'm referring to the relatively low power that current models emit.)
