    Exclamation H.R 4269 - Assault Weapons Ban of 2015

It may not pass, but how many rights have been taken away under that way of thinking? Freedom requires constant vigilance against evil. No matter how "pro-gun" you think the wave of recently elected Republicans are, or how conservative other members campaigned on, remember this is DC, and sometimes they will serve their own agenda rather than the peoples'. Some folks gripe at Paul Ryan on his recent actions and I won't get into that debate, but the point is people chose him with expectations of doing what he said and pushing for certain values and many people feel he has not done that. It is not that far of a stretch to fathom your elected officials will do the same, thinking "nobody else will vote for this, I'll vote to make so-and-so happy and my constituents won't care as long as this thing never gets signed in as a law, it will get blocked somewhere else".

I urge everyone to write to your reps and voice your objections to H.R 4269 - Assault Weapons Ban of 2015. It has 123 co-sponsors and among them is KY Congressman Yarmuth. Writing or even visiting in person is a huge thing as our elected officials are responsible for addressing our concerns.

Not all of them. Rand Paul seems to be ok. He has introduced, sponsored, and supported many bills in KY that strengthen our rights. The most recent one was to nullify all future federal gun laws in KY.

That apathy that you speak of (something way too many gun owners have) is exactly what got us the Clinton 94-04 ban. The bill sounded so stupid (and it was) that we didn't put forth much effort to oppose it because we thought it had no chance of passing. It was a snake in the room that hadn't bitten us yet, so we got cocky and turned our back on it, and we paid for a 10 year period. I will absolutely be contacting my reps to express my concerns. And like you, I encourage everyone else to do the same.
