Virginia Lawmakers Defy Gov. Terry McAuliffe with Concealed Carry Bill

    SNIP

"[Angry at Gov. Terry McAuliffe & AG Mark Herring for screwing up concealed handgun permit reciprocity with other states,] Republican lawmakers on Virginia’s Senate Courts of Justice Committee defied Governor Terry McAuliffe (D) by passing a bill on January 20 to allow concealed carry in the state without a permit.

Currently, Alaska, Arizona, [Arkansas,] Kansas, Maine, Montana, Vermont, and Wyoming allow concealed carry without a permit."

Wrong. The bill has just passed out of COMMITTEE. It is not passed into law. Minor point, but worth mentioning.

Where did you see anyone mention it is a law?

Thats what I'm talking about !

I did see this one: HB804
Reporting lost or stolen firearms; penalty. Requires a person who lawfully possesses a firearm to report the loss or theft of the firearm to any local law-enforcement agency or the Department of State Police within 14 days of when the loss or theft was discovered.
Do you want all property to be reported when lost or stolen too? Four thumbs down for this one should be the recommendation. You just required a person to tell the state what type of firearm he has (he's going to replace it right?)

Veto bait. Welcome to the new Virginia, where anti gun bills get shot down on day 1 but pro gun bills go all the way to the Governor's rubbish bin. A modern Mexican standoff.

We've trod this path before, in past years enduring the "death star" Senate sub-committee which illegally killed pro-gun bills. But everyone saw what was happening, and then once the Senate was rescued from the oppressive control of the gun-haters, some of those same bills flew through to becoming law with hardly a second glance.
