OC on the Lost Coast Trail

    Hi everyone,

Some friends and I are planning a trip to go backpacking on the Lost Coast Trail in May. I started researching about OC on the trail, but most of what I found is outdated and I was wondering if anyone has up to date information.

Is OC legal on the trail, loaded or not? I know that it's all BLM land, but from what I understand, part of the trail overlaps with a state park, therefore a no go.

Does anyone have definitive information on this?

I believe that the trail also crosses private land, that the No Trespassing signs are enforced by armed marijuana farmers protecting their crops. You will know when you are near a pot farm even without the signs.

As I understand it so far, the main trail itself crosses some private property that has a couple of old cabins on it, but most of the other private property you speak of is off the main trail on offshoots that are clearly marked to stay away from.

The first thing to consider, as a negative, is the fact that it is in California...
"I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it." - Thomas Jefferson.

"Better that ten guilty persons escape, than that one innocent suffer" - English jurist William Blackstone.
It is AFAIK original to me. Compromise is failure on the installment plan, particularly when dealing with so intractable an opponent as ignorance. - Nightmare
