Hb 67 weapons on public transportation

Rep. Thurston, Norman K is sponsoring HB 67, WEAPONS ON PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION.

This bill removes the current, 3rd degree felony penalty for boarding a bus or entering a bus terminal with a concealed dangerous weapon or firearm. Those with permits to carry are exempted from this prohibition. But this bill removes the penalties entirely.

Barring any bad amendments, this appears to be a bill that gun owners would want to support.

(Clicking the link above for the bill will take you to the Legislative webpage for the bill. From that page you can sign up for email alerts on the bill's status. You can also find links for proposed amendments to the bill, links to committee pages which will give notice of when the bill is to be heard in committee and which will contain audio recordings of the committee hearings a day after the hearing is held.)

HB 67 has passed the House

It is now on to the Senate.

This is a good bill that removes felony level penalties just for stepping onto a bus with an otherwise legal gun.
