Sadly, it looks like they amended HB 382 in a sub-committee of the Committee on Militia, Police and Public Safety, to remove the requirement for employees of state colleges and universities - the place where having a parking lot bill is most needed!

How many lives at Virginia Tech could have been saved if one or two employees had a firearm locked in their car on campus?

:banghead:

Text that was removed:

G. No board of visitors or other governing body of any public institution of higher education shall establish any rule or regulation that prevents an officer or employee of such institution from storing at that institution's workplace a lawfully possessed firearm and ammunition in a locked private motor vehicle unless the establishment of such rule or regulation is expressly authorized by statute. Any such rule or regulation adopted prior to July 1, 2016, is invalid.

It is most definitely disappointing, BUT if we can pick up nearly every other state agency now and then come back and focus solely on colleges and universities in a soon to follow year, we may have done some really good work to help out many.

All fish in a barrel fry the same and the governor is willing to help fillet them.
