Church Shoot-up Thwarted

Finally, there it is in black and white!

The man had wanted to shoot up the church because it would’ve been an easy target, the complaint said.

“It’s easy and a lot of people go there. Plus people are not allowed to carry guns in church. Plus, it would make the news. I regret not doing it. If I can’t do jihad in the Middle East, I would do my jihad over here.”

While not technically true here in MI (you can as long as you have a CPL) it still hammers home the point that GFZ's are nothing more than government sanctioned killing fields!

Maybe some states, but not all.

All I need here in Va is a "good and sufficient reason". http://law.lis.virginia.gov/vacode/18.2-283/

There is no law against carrying in a church in NC. People seem to always assume you cant legally carry in a bank, or church and in Texas, people walk around with guns on their hips.

the 'assume' was precipitated by statutes since up until dec 2011, it was on the NC statutes you couldn't carry in a financial institution!

No. The reverse is true. Any organization that provides public access to its premises yet refuses to honor the Constitutional rights of another must advertise the fact. Unless otherwise specifically prohibited by law, such as is the case with most state prohibitions against carrying in a courthouse, U.S. law is permissive in nature. In other words, unless an activity is prohibited, then it is allowed.

This is why our law books read, "Thou shalt not murder" instead of "Thou may do a, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, i, j, etc." while omitting the term "murder."

Exceptions to this in U.S. law are rare, except in the case of business law, which often describes, for example, what both parties need to do in order to secure a legally binding contract.
