Daniel Goodman and bearing arms

In August 2015, Daniel Goodman was walking home from a bar in Capitol Hill, a Seattle neighborhood with some degree of nightlife, and with the nightlife, nighttime crime. It was past midnight. Some fellow yelled at him in a friendly way and then, out of nowhere, that person or a confederate strongly struck Goodman in the head, leaving him unconscious for a bit while he was robbed.

Now, in Daniel’s case, he was walking home from a gay type bar, but these kinds of assaults have also been done against “straight” people and they have been done against groups as well as individuals.

Daniel was pretty upset. Daniel felt that the Mayor and/or police were not doing enough to stop the increasing crime in his neighborhood. About a week later, Daniel organized and helped lead a vigil against violent crime. Of course, however, the information for the vigil says, “violence of any kind is unwelcome.”

Now, a person can be attacked in such a way that he has little time and means of protecting himself with a weapon or his arms. A single blow can put a man out or at times kill him. However, my questions for Daniel and the city council are these . . .

Was Daniel Goodman armed in any way with a whistle, pepper spray, knife or throwing stars?

If any bystanders in the vicinity of Daniel Goodman’s attack were also unarmed, with not so much as a whistle or pepper spray, was he expecting them to get into a fight with a group of attackers?

Did Daniel or any others at his vigil against violence encourage any responsible persons to be armed in any ways?

If and when someone attacks someone else in the vicinity of Daniel, and if Daniel Goodman is not armed, how does he plan to intervene, if at all?

Is Daniel's idea of reducing crime on Capitol Hill to have more police on the street at 2 in the morning and to have nearly all members of the public unarmed and perhaps not suited to confront a group of attackers?

Tks Night for posting the threads the OP failed to provide.

Now OP do you have a specific question for the forum members or was this just a generalized rant about what appears to be an apparently common occurrence in the capitol hill GLBT area?

Apparently not, as his five questions at the close of the narrative are directed to the council and the victim himself.
