Open Carry speakers invited to Western Washington University

The Whatcom County guys are in it again my friends. We have volunteered and have been invited to speak at the local institute of higher learning. The topic is "Guns aren't that scary" and it is something almost all of us can get behind.

We will disseminate information as it becomes available. This is an opportunity to bring a few people out of the "Dark Side".

Will the presentation be video taped and made available for viewing at a later date?

the uw has a concealed carry group and also a republicans group and both groups are favorable to carry in various ways. Were you invited by a Young Americans for liberty group and does the UW have one? Also, is the UW already filled with information helpful to you because of the carry group?

It seems to me that the most scary thing presented about guns is the alleged stat guns are more likely to be used to shoot . . . than to shoot . . .

and as you probably know, there are methodological problems in how that stat is produced

I carry to defend my loved ones; Desensitizing and educating are secondary & tertiary reasons. Anything else is unintended.

“Life, liberty, and property do not exist because men have made laws. On the contrary, it was the fact that life, liberty, and property existed beforehand that caused men to make laws in the first place.” - Frederic Bastiat

Started a six. We had maybe thirty in the seats, to include one agitator and one professor. It went very well, a great deal of mystery was dispelled. Good interaction with a group of Liberty minded Young Folks. Cool.

After, SVG, Boomboy and I fell into three groups answering questions and listening to them. Very cool. WE have been invited back

I can guess what the agitators position is on this, but what of the professor?

The 'agitator" was an angry young lady, more interested in racial disparity and slavery. She had problem with "middle aged white men" arming themselves.
The "professor" was anti gun, and would not allow a two way conversation.

The majority were very alert and interested in the conversation.

This is interesting. I had a chance to speak to students at Miami University in Ohio, as part of the class "The Politics of Gun Control". Dialogue was civil and respectful.

(This was related to a Walk I organized: https://www.facebook.com/events/1701346233480167/ )

However, during the Walk itself, the leader of the anti-Walk/gun people felt that an open display of firearms by largely white males also required a discussion of anything and everything related to firearms - race, police brutality against people of color, white privilege, and on and on. I simply don't get the mindset that one thing ought to beget discussion of a zillion things...?

Any insight anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Because most people only want to hear themselves and have their viewpoint listened to. They think that guns are involved in many different facets of crime, that gun-supporters support crime as well. Obviously dumb logic. Usually they won't listen to reason, either. Like if you were to ask the vocal oppressors about alcohol, if they drank a few beers or cocktails or whatever. If they reply "yes," then you can attack them for endorsing domestic battery, drunk driving, child abuse, liver disease, divorce rates, etc. They won't get it.

The only common denominator that matters in life is a person. Not a tool, not an object. A person. Because a person is what controls the tools and objects, and makes them safe or dangerous.

Advocating that guns be banned from the public square is advocating that every citizen be a victim. Call anti-gun nuts racists and bigots then sit back and watch what happens...after their head explodes and they start spewing spittle, all red faced with veins bulging on their forehead, blubbering as to how they are not a racist and a bigot, retort with the below.

"Well, you want to disarm blacks, hispanics, gays, transgendered, you do not value them as a person. You want them to be defenseless against racists and bigots."

Yes and the white socialist professor and young social justice warrior said I was racist even after I showed them a picture of my very non white family members carrying guns.....sigh.......

I decided not to play their games especially after they decided that it was ok for white people to be victims of violent crimes if the attackers were brown.....
I am not anti Cop I am just pro Citizen.

    U.S. v. Minker, 350 US 179, at page 187
"Because of what appears to be a lawful command on the surface, many citizens, because
of their respect for what only appears to be a law, are cunningly coerced into waiving their
    rights, due to ignorance." (Paraphrased)

The original gun control laws in this country were racist in nature to get them passed.

Heres some information for you on Big Tim

    http://gunwatch.blogspot.com/2016/04...of-second.html

The bill was created and pushed through the legislature by "Big Tim" Sullivan, a crime syndicate leader and politician who was part of Tammany Hall. His toughs had complained about immigrants who were resisting their extortion efforts. Big Tim had a simple solution. Make it illegal for his opposition to legally have or carry weapons.
