Imagine my shock today when I was informed by an employee that Southern Police Equipment (aka Southern Gun World) on Midlothian across from VSP headquarters no longer allows other than LEOs to carry armed there.

They have a sign on the door now to that effect. Will post it shortly.

Forget that we are safer than the average LEO, commit less crime, and that neither the store nor a LEO is responsible for my safety.

Have always subscribed to the tenet that it is how a person acts, not what he/she is wearing/carrying that counts. Apparently, a properly holstered guns on the hips of freedom loving people scares them.

There are other gun stores in Greater Richmond - they will get my business.

Stores/gun shops in RVA that allow OC & CC:

Bob's Gun Shop - a landmark, founded by Bob Moates

Green Top Sporting Goods

Hopkin's gun shop

Bass Pro Shop

Town Police Supply

There are numerous others - list your favorites and tell Southern what you think of their new policy - do so politely.

Its over here, right next to my torches.* Its on the same shelf with my stupidity detector.

*Reference to the classic "pitchforks and torches", expressly disclaimed as a threat of arson.

"Torches" were not mentioned. You added that on your own. There has been no threat of arson.

This is classic Americana and there is no threat of arson here either.

When I was in Ga, I would go into a place like that and ask for the manager. I would show them what I call the 4. My CCW permit, my sidearm, their sign and my back. Explaining that I would not return and would discourage anyone that I had reason to talk to about it from shopping there also.

I would email the corporation (if applicable) and advise them of the same. I hung out at a couple places similar to this one and could generally get a couple hundred emails sent to corporate within a day or so.

I would return about once a month after that and advise them I was still paying attention to the fact the sign was still up. I had success on a couple occasions. The day I saw the sign was down I was shopping there and most often it was a restaurant and I was eating there.

There was also a couple hundred thank you emails sent to corporate also.

Sounds like they want t/b a police-only retailer. I am sure they only want police customers - because they are licensed, keep in tip-top physical shape, go to the range every week, and now give free taxpayer paid ice cream to drive tax paying ice cream truck drivers out of business.

And LEOs are a much larger segment of the population than are non-LEO gun owners/carriers so they maximize their income. (sarcasm)

Just because you hold a FFL does not mean you are not a lizzurd. I think that this is the lesson learned here.

You should ask shop owners more to understand their degree of lizzurdness. I was not a lizzurd when I held my FFL ... unlawful demands and requirements? Pish-posh, I did not follow unlawful laws.
