    Key arena?

Going to bball game tonight. Does Key Arena have metal detectors/Pat downs? Probably less security than for a concert, but taking public transportation to the game so putting it back in my car won't be an option. Don't really want to go downtown with my daughter without carry. Thanks.

Laddie ... I have never gone to a private place and allowed them to pat me down....regardless of their "polices".

You should not allow them to search you or pat you down.

I was at Key Arena last week (8/24/2016) for a concert. They were using hand held wand style metal detectors and performing bag checks. I don't know if they do the same for Bball games.

I was carrying concealed and the wand didn't make a peep. Gun was on my right hip and the "security" was standing on my left. I have used this approach once before with the wands and it didn't detect my gun, car keys, pocket knife or belt buckle. I wasn't carrying a Glock 7 either. Just a polymer frame, single stack 9mm.

Key Arena does have a firearm checking policy, but I have never tried it.

    https://www.keyarena.com/arena-information/a-to-z-guide

"Guests, including law enforcement personnel not present in an official capacity, are prohibited from bringing weapons into the arena. KeyArena does provide weapon lockers. See any KeyArena Admissions staff member to check your weapon. Weapons include, but are not limited to, the following: firearms, explosives, stun guns, handcuffs, brass knuckles, sticks, clubs, batons, martial arts instruments, pepper spray, tear gas, knives, etc. Guests found in possession of the above-mentioned items will be asked to remove the item from the arena or dispose of it. Guests who refuse to comply will be ejected from the arena and may be subject to arrest."

I just saw an article that said 44% of households owns guns not.

If these 44% refused to allow a private person to search them then all this crap goes out the window.

I complain all the time of searches that the gov't thinks are legal. I create a ruckuses all the time at gov't bldgs....courthouses etc...always asking if the searches are just voluntary or not .. and then chastising them if not ... and then suing some afterwards.

But private persons? Never gonna happen.

I can't find an 'about us' on the Key Arena website -- are they separate from Seattle Center, or are they city-owned?

If it's the latter, where in the RCWs are they given the authority to prohibit firearms?

KeyArena is, last I knew, both owned & operated by the City of Seattle, however I noticed on the KeyArena website about AEG Facilities. Unless something has changed since 2008, the Security is handled by Starplex/Crowd Management Services with assistance by Seattle Police Department & King County Sheriff's Department.

Police have zero right to search w/o a warrant. If they are supv. these folks then its an illegal search .. demand entry w/o search if this is the case. If they refuse entry, sue.

Enough people sue these lizzurds, costing them zillions, they'll stop or go out of business.

Generally, as with all venues where event staff/security is present, LEOs will step in if there is a violation of local/state law. When I worked as security there at KeyArena for Metallica, we were doing Pat Down Searches only. The policy for what type of search is conducted is varied depending on what the event wants to have done.

No, its what the parties agree to upon entering and executing a contract.

If you buy a ticket then does this mean you can pat down the employees of the company?

Not unless explicitly agreed to between the parties.

Nowhere in there does it say who currently owns and operates it, only who did in the 1970s and 1980s.

Woops, sorry I never updated my post!

I found the thing about Gun Lockers on their website, so we went and before I got wanded by security I told the guy and showed it to him on my phone.
He had to call his Supervisor, who had to call the regular police to escort us to the security office. I put the gun and mags in and took the key.
They said come back after the game, no key, no gun. So we did. No police escort out. All in all a pretty good experience.

So you were inside w/o escort......free to move about even.
