Start calling AR's single shot rifles ?

They are single shot guns .. one shot=1 trigger pull.

Calling them single-shot rifles will clarify this point to members of the public who otherwise have no clue.

    I appreciate your intent, but...

Anything with a feeding mechanism from a magazine is a repeater, still opposed to an automatic.

They are "repeaters" only because people who knew enough about firearms wanted a term that distinguished them from muzzle-loaders and hand-reloaded cartridge firearms. Probably a sales tactic. But, that in no way enjoins us from re-directing the term to bring about understanding for those who don't know.

I like McBeth's idea. From now on, I will be referring to semi-automatic weapons as one-shot guns to the uninitiated.
I'll make you an offer: I will argue and fight for all of your rights, if you will do the same for me. That is the only way freedom can work. We have to respect all rights, all the time--and strive to win the rights of the other guy as much as for ourselves.

If I am equal to another, how can I legitimately govern him without his express individual consent?

There is no human being on earth I hate so much I would actually vote to inflict government upon him.

For newbies .. I think "repeater" would be confusing. One shot rifle is accurate and distinguishable from automatic even to the untrained ear.

I'll be using the phrase instead of "repeater" or "semi-automatic" (which sounds like "automatic") to the untrained ear (like, what a person has to operate it manually vs. it being an automated system?)

A revolver is a repeating pistol.
