I seem to get two questions repeatedly, and have standard answers. I’m more than willing to discuss, if you can be civil. Further discussion running about 50/50.
Do you REALLY need to carry that gun (here)?
My reply: I certainly HOPE not.
Why do you carry a gun?
My reply: I believe I am responsible for my own safety. Who’s responsible for your safety?
They often say: The police, that’s why we have the police, etc.
My reply: Where are they?
I try my best to not mention the NRA, the Second Amendment, or my Rights in any initial conversation. There is a place for that, but it’s not my preferred starting point. When people comment on me exercising my Second Amendment I’ll often say “My First as well, I’m making a statement”.......If burning the Flag, stomping on the Flag and such is exercising a First Amendment Right, I see no reason why carrying a firearm would not be one as well.
I NEVER use the word gun, ALWAYS firearm, but that’s what people use generally when asking about one. I’m NEVER the first person in a conversation to mention my firearm. My rules for me. I guess I haven’t encountered a true Anti in a while, mostly inquisitive people I’d say.
