"Last week, they presented a proposal to put armed security mentors in their elementary schools."

"A retired police officers who can be armed security, so that if the worst case scenario happens, we have immediate response there on site," said Green."

"These armed security mentors would be retired law enforcement officers, employed part-time by the school."

Better solution: Let honest good people and staff carry w/o restriction.
Criminals (those intent on harm) will ignore the restriction.

Put a lid on the fish in a barrel.

I feel hope for humanity when I see that there are people who can think in rational terms. I feel such a kindred connection when there are some people out there who think like I do.

Protecting the children with rocks and miniature baseball bats and/or nothing is inadequate in the real world. I am so grateful that I don't live in NY or CA or suchlike where the massive black hole of social engineering is powerful enough to distort the perception of reality.

When you really need a man with a gun, why must we call someone else?

Especially when SCOTUS has said that officers are under no obligation to protect or defend.

The police are pretty good at solving crimes after they are committed. Their tools are yellow tape, chalk, pen and paper, camera, and evidence bags.

I have been proposing this type of thing for decades.

Can be very cost effective.

Good honest citizens armed can have a very positive effect on wrong doers.

Not just in schools the air marshal program would greatly benefit from a volunteer program also.

Offer reduced or free fares one would have all kinds of people volunteering to fly armed.

But it is not about being the cheapest nor the most effective it is about the government maintaining power and control.

It is about making sure armed citizens are seen as a problem not as a solution.

Chesterfield fired the guy that came up with the proposal.

The case against him was a red herring. His real crime was a hard-line common sense approach. From what I saw he did not attack a religion. There is a difference between attacking a religion, a sect or a theocracy and the distinction as far as I can tell was not made. Let's say for example someone is critical of the Westboro Baptist Church bunch, well that is being critical of a sect and does not speak to the entire religion. It was a generalization on the part of those that wanted him gone.
