I'm trying to find the answer - this memorial site is in Virginia, but I can't tell if it's "special" in some way because it may be on federal property, or only accessible through federal property. Would appreciate some insight if anyone knows.

In the meantime, I've sent this to the "contact us" address on the web site:

{I note from your web site that visitors to the memorial dedicationwill be searched. As I live in Virginia, and the site is in Virginia, and I exercise my right in Virginia to carry a firearm (openly when allowed, concealed when necessary).

Will I be turned away from the memorial dedication if I am carrying my legal, permitted firearm?

Hi, Tess. I'm 99.99% positive it is on DoD property. It's right between the Pentagon and Henderson Hall. As far as I know all of that is DoD.

Thanks, DoubleR.

That's a completely separate issue - the whole DoD trusts me with billions of dollars of their money every day but not with a firearm on their property. Maybe they know how often the fun-meter gets pegged??!??

If it's DoD property, I can understand, but disagree. I thought it was private, and had to be, because the funds had to be raised from private citizens.

Meantime I'll keep consulting maps and will post any response I get from the organizing committee.
