Just a thought for you, I carry in my wallet in the clear window my ID, my CPL, and a card for an attourney. It's not really for me as much as it's for an officer. If I have to pull out my CPL, I casually flash a card that in big bold letters says "Attourney at Law". It tends to make any cop think twice about possibly violating your rights.

Update, Bremerton Wal-Mart Manager Gary, corrected the assistant manager, and said that open carry in Bremerton Wal-Mart was fine. I bought $150 worth of bullets while open carrying in Wal-Mart with no problem. Also open carried in Starbucks and Bulls Eye Shooter in Tacoma (range and store area). Keep up the good work guys.

District Walmart called me back, said that absolutely I could carry a gun on me, open or concealed. He said if too many people got scared and complained if I wouldn't mind leaving, I said sure. He also said He would call the Bremerton Walmart and make sure the managers put it out to everyone that guns are allowed for customers. Thanks Walmart, You just saved another customer.

First Time Told To Leave a store.... WALMART hehe. Bremerton walmart just told me to leave. I told them the laws, and how their manager, assistant manager, and regional superintendent told me it was ok. They are calling me back with further guidance. hehe. I would hate to have the job of going up to armed people and saying "excuse me, is that a gun?. Is that a real gun? are you an off duty cop? you can't have that in here" The security guy who called himself the APA said I couldn't carry in there because they had "jewelry and crack heads in their store" making it wrong for me to carry a gun. I told them i'm not even near the jewelry and the "crack heads" is one of the reason I carry a gun. I will let you know how this goes. They were friendly about it, not pushy and let me talk my part.

Walmart's marketing manager Tom, told me All is well keep carrying. If they say anything again to call him directly to his cell phone. Bremerton walmart is still ok with open carry. Have fun.

I worked at Kitsap Mall as security when they first opened. In fact I unlocked the door for the first customer. That p[olicy was in place at that time, b ut never enforced. Kitsap Mall is owned by the realestate division of SafeCo Insurance Co.

Just a foot note here. Sportsmans Warehouse has a policy of an employee carrying your firearm purchase to the door. One of the stores had a customer looking at a firearm and then walking out with it. The policy is to be certain that Loss Prevention ( who monitors all firearm purchases on video) is aware the purchase was made properly, avoiding a stop for "stolen" gun.

As a former Sam's Club (division of Wal-Mart) emplouee I can tell you for a fact that WM/SC corporate policy is that lawful carry by CUSTOMERS is allowed in all of their stores and has been the policy since Sam Walton founded the thing. This was thoroughly explained during our training.

However, EMPLOYEES are forbidden to carry ANYWHERE on WM/SC property even when not working. Even if it's a different store from the one they work in.

So unless you work for WM/SC you CAN carry in any WM/SC store.

If ANY WM/SC employee tells you to leave the store for carryingask them if they are a Salaried Member Of Managment. If they're not then you can ignore them. (they usually wear a vest) The ONLY person in ANY WM/SC store that has any authority is a SMOM. (They usually wear a tie)

If any SMOM tells you to leave the store for carrying tell them they had better call Bensonville "Right Now". If they don't, then demand the corporate telephone number in Bensonville(they are REQUIRED to give it to you immediately, refusing to do so is a code of conduct violation and can be cause for termination) and inform them that you will be calling it as soon as youhit the outside air. Be sure and get names. All employees are required to wear their name tag with the name clearly visable anytime they are anywhere a customer can see them. Believe me the store manager does NOT want to get a call FROM Bensonville because an employee violating a corporate policy. I've seen it happen and it's not a pretty sight.Especially if itdeals with the rights of a customer.

Somewhere I've still got my employee training handbooks. I'll try to dig them out and locate the exact working and policy numbers.

Now it ISpolicy for an employee to escort anyone purchasing a firearm out of the store. They are supposed to escort you all the way to your car. But if the weather is bad or if the store is really busy they may just escort you to the door. This is for "general safety". The reasoning is rather long and somewhat convolutedbut I actually see their point and personally I'm not offended by it. Most stores simply have someone escort you while a few stores actually insist that an employee carries it. They MUST carry it for you if you ask.

So, I guess things have changed since 1999?

[font="Verdana, sans-serif"]Thank you for contacting Wal-Mart regarding our concealed handgun policy. Wal-Mart was founded by Sam Walton on three basic principles. [font="Verdana, sans-serif"]The following is our policy......If a Wal-Mart customer has been awarded a concealed handgun license by the state government, Wal-Mart will follow the direction of the state. Target "No weapons allowed"

Not asking permission seems to be a scarry idea when it comes to getting my concealed carry licensed revoked, and any possible jail time or fines. Target's 800 number told me there are no rules against firearms, and I will shop there now instead of the walmart or mall.

Um...Adam, can I ask you a question? What gave you the impression that open carry will get your license revoked?

Gray, I am an Over the Road Truck Driver, I haven't shopped at Target or the Bremerton WalMart in a while but I can tell you that the Target D/C's DO NOT ALLOW WEAPONS of ANY KIND, Knives, Guns, ???, geewhiz, a liberal could say my Stainless Steel tire thumper is a "WEAPON", where do they stop??? I have had my WA CLP for over thirty years now, and carry all the time. Don't ask don't tell sounds good to me, "one is none, two is one"

Carry at least one ALWAYS!!!!!!

I miss Kitsap County. It was such a nice place. I got there in 84 and left in 87 while I was in the Navy. When I got there the McDonalds in Silverdale was being built I almost went back there but could not swing it. I remember the mall opening back in 86 I think. Are the Sandpiper and Azteca restaraunts still open in Silverdale? Sorry to hijack the thread but you folks brought back some good memories.

Warning: More reminiscing hijacking about to occur! I miss KC as well! I was there in 84-86 when my Dad's ship went into the yards, then my Dad was re-stationed at Bangor and then also PSNS from 89-93 (when he retired). I remember the Mall as it was just being finished as well. Azteca’s had the best dinners and Elsie's had the best breakfasts! I graduated CKHS and I had a lot of fun all over KC! I have been back a few times to visit and amazed at how much it has grown. It used to take 2 minutes to get across town, now you wait for 2 minutes at a single stop light! I miss seeing the snow covered mountains (both the Olympic Range and Cascade Range when viewed from the top of Newberry Hill Road, which I got to see every day as I lived on Sesame Street at the end of Newberry Hill Road. So much beauty up there, I miss it!

GoGo: Don't bust RiverRats balls too much, that is good that new people to the forum go back and read thru everything that people have gone thru/fought for in the past. He might not have noticed the dates but, it is important to catch up on things. Knowing where things have come from is a great thing and opens one’s eyes to the future. Also, a great American Hero once said: "Knowing is half the battle!" Okay, so it might have been a cartoon character that said it, but close enough! LOL!

Now back to the originally dead thread in progress.

Happy Carrying!

How easy it is for the regular readers to remember the "old threads" at the same time forgetting the new readers have not read them before.

How precisely would you get your CPL revoked by engaging in a constitutionally-protected and lawful activity that doesn't require a CPL?

Another "Cougar". Class of '61. I remember Silverdale being so small you could ride your bicycle down the middle of the main street (highway) during the day. I also remember the "Mall" when it was just a huge pasture with sheep and only 1/2 mile from my house on Clear Creek Rd.

We didn't have any Police Department (Silverdale was unincorporated) otherwise it would be "Mayberry West". Most of he addresses back then started with RFD.

[strike]Sportsman's Warehouse (or whatever they're called now) [/strike] Wholesale Sports in Silverdale will be holding two Utah Non-resident Concealed Firearm Permit classes. Thursday the 8th from 4pm to 8pm and Sunday the 11th from 11am to 2:30pm. The Utah permit gets you 30 states (they claim). The fee is $75 for the class, and does not include the other $65 in federal and state fees, so it'll cost you $140 total, and there's a [strike]10%[/strike] $10 military discount. I'm flying to Utah the 11th (ironically) so I'm leaning strongly towards taking the Thursday class.
