10 Reasons too vote Republican

Here are 10 good reasons why you should vote Republican comeelection day. You won’t hear about them on
ABC, CBS,NBC News.
Reason #1
. The economy is kicking butt. It is robust, vibrant, strong and growing. In the 36 months since the Bush tax cuts ended the recession that began under President Clinton, the economy has experienced astonishing growth. Over the first half of this year, our economy grew at a strong 4.1 percent annual rate, faster than any other major industrialized nation. This strong economic activity has generated historic revenue growth that has shrunk the deficit. A continued commitment to spending restraint has also contributed to deficit reduction.

Reason #2.
Unemployment is almost nil for a major economy, and is verging on full employment. Recently, jobless claims fell to the lowest level in 10 weeks. Employment increased in 48 states over the past 12 months ending in August. Our economy has now added jobs for 37 straight months.

Reason #3.
The Dow is hitting record highs. In the past few days, the Dow climbed above 12,000 for the first time in the history of the stock market, thus increasing the value of countless pension and 401(k) that funds many Americans rely on for their retirement years.

Reason #4.
Wages have risen dramatically. According to the Washington Post, demand for labor helped drive workers’ average hourly wages, not including those of most managers, up to $16.84 last month — a 4 percent increase from September 2005, the fastest wage growth in more than five years. Nominal wage growth has been 4.1 percent so far this year. This is better or comparable to its 1990s peaks. Over the first half of 2006, employee compensation per hour grew at a 6.3 percent annual rate adjusted for inflation. Real after-tax income has risen a whopping 15 percent since January 2001. Real after-tax income per person has risen by 9 percent since January 2001.

Reason #5.
Gas prices have plunged. According to the Associated Press, the price of gasoline has fallen to its lowest level in more than 10 months. The federal Energy Information Administration said Monday that U.S. motorists paid $2.21 a gallon on average for regular grade last week, a decrease of 1.8 cents from the previous week. Pump prices are now 40 cents lower than a year ago and have plummeted by more than 80 cents a gallon since the start of August. The previous 2006 low for gasoline was set in the first week of January, when pump prices averaged $2.238. In the week ending Dec. 5, 2005, prices averaged $2.19. Today, gasoline can be found for less than $2 a gallon in many parts of the country.

Reason #6.
Since 9/11, no terrorist attacks have occurred on U.S. soil. Since 9/11 the U.S. has not been attacked by terrorists thanks to such programs as the administration’s monitoring of communications between al-Qaida operatives overseas and their agents in the U.S. and the monitoring of the international movement of terrorist funds — both measure bitterly opposed by Democrats.

Reason #7.
Productivity is surging and has grown by a strong 2.5 percent over the past four quarters, well ahead of the average productivity growth in the last 30 years. Strong productivity growth helps lead to the growth of the Gross Domestic Product, higher real wages, and stronger corporate profits.

Reason #8.
The Prescription Drug Program is working. Despite dire predictions that most seniors would refrain from signing up to the new Medicare prescription benefits program, fully 75 percent of all those on Medicare have enrolled, and the overwhelming majority say they are happy with the program.

Reason #9.
Bush has kept his promise of naming conservative judges. He has named two conservative justices to the Supreme Court, Chief Justice John G. Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito. In addition, he has named conservative justices who are devoted to the Constitution as it is written and not as activist liberal judges think it means... The strong likelihood that one or more justices will retire from the Supreme Court makes it mandatory for the Republicans to hold the Senate and have a chance to name new conservative justices.

Reason #10.
The deficit has been cut in half three years ahead of the president’s 2009 goal, with the 2006 fiscal year budget deficit down to $248 billion. The tax cuts have stimulated the economy and are working.

Why I won't vote republican:

The previously cited ten reasons are statisical bovine excrement.

Neither republicans nor democrats have any regard for individual rights.

I believe we need more ballot access by third party challengers.

I don't know what you mean by that.

We have always had plenty of third party candidates on our ballots. They just go unheard because of lack of campaign money.

You know your a liberal if:

1. You have to be against capital punishment, but support abortion ondemand.

2. You have to believe that businesses create oppression and governments create prosperity.

3. You have to believe that guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens are more of a threat than U.S. nuclear weapons technology in the hands of Iran or Chinese and North Korean communists.

4. You have to believe that there was no art before federal funding.

5. You have to believe that global temperatures are less affected by cyclical changes in the earth's climate and more affected by soccer moms driving SUV's.

6. You have to believe that gender roles are artificial, but being homosexual is natural.

7. You have to believe that the AIDS virus is spread by a lack of federal funding.

8. You have to believe that the same teacher who can't teach 4th-graders how to read is somehow qualified to teach those same kids about sex.

9. You have to believe that hunters don't care about nature, but PETA activists do.

10. You have to believe that self-esteem is more important than actually doing something

to earn it.

11. You have to believe that Mel Gibson spent $25 million of his own money to make "The Passion of the Christ" for financial gain only.

12. You have to believe the NRA is bad because it supports certain parts of the Constitution, while the ACLU is good because it supports certain parts of the Constitution.

13. You have to believe that taxes are too low, but ATM fees are toohigh.

14. You have to believe that Margaret Sanger and Gloria Steinem are more important to American history than Thomas Jefferson, Gen. Robert E. Lee, and Thomas Edison.

15. You have to believe that standardized tests are racist, but racial quotas and set-asides are not.

16. You have to believe that the only reason socialism hasn't worked anywhere it's been tried is because the right people haven't been in charge.

17. You have to believe that homosexual parades displaying drag queens and transvestites should be constitutionally protected, and manger scenes at Christmas should be illegal.

18. You have to believe that this message is a part of a vast,
right-wing conspiracy.

I do not go out of my way to find fault with everything the current administration does (I do not have to, many others are willing to do it for me) but, on the other hand,I do have difficulty finding reasons to encourage them to "stay the course". Republicans' recent job performance has not earned my vote and I have every reason not to vote for a democrat, therefore I will exercise any third option available. While some third party candidates have success in ballot access the system is definitely skewed in favor of the two major parties: when a third party candidate must obtain 60,000 (or more) signatures to earn a place on the ballot while republicrats may only need 2000, for example, full and equal access is sorely absent. I would rather go out of my way to write-in a virtually unknown candidate then continue to support the current corrupt two-headed one party system.

Once upon a time I thought that Bill Clinton was quite possibly the WORST president we have ever had.

The last six years have caused me to seriously reconsider.

Republicans repeatedly sell out and fail to perform in all kinds of areas, and they take gun owners and other liberty-minded people for granted. I will not vote for a Republican for any federal office anytime in the near future. Likewise I will not likely vote for any Democrat, either, as they have a long, bad, history.

In 2004 I voted Libertarian, and passively hoped Kerry would win. You folks who try to paint a scary "OMG what if Gore or Kerry wins" kind of picture are wasting your time with me. The best we can hope for is divided government, with one party controlling Congress and the other in the White House.

And even that's only a short term measure, since the problem is systemic in nature. This "best system we've ever had", if that's what you want to call it, is not good enough. Human beings are smart enough to do better. We could obey our own Constitution, for starters.

So it's 3rd party or sit it out for me.

The best system on earth will not get better until something is done to change it.

I prefer to vote for concepts that I like more. Voting Whig might even be better than what we have now.

Top 10 Reasons to Vote FOR Jim Webb!
by lowkell [Unsubscribe] (Reprinted from DAILY KOS)

There's been a lot of negativity in this campaign for U.S. Senate here in Virginia. I would argue that this negativity's been overwhelmingly from the other side, but let's not get into that at the moment. For now, I'd like to present my Top 10 reasons to vote FOR Jim Webb. I'd be interested in your lists as well. Thanks, and GO WEBB!

1) Jim Webb will be pro-environment. Webb will support renewable energy development, and will oppose drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Jim Webb understands that global warming is a serious problem that needs to be dealt with. Webb also knows that we must wean ourselves off our addiction to foreign oil, for both environmental and national security reasons.

2) Jim Webb will help keep the government out of our bedrooms. Webb does not believe that the government should be snooping around in our private lives, unless there's some powerful, overriding reason why it simply HAS to do so. Webb is consistent on this philosophy, which is why he can simultaneously be for 2nd Amenmdment gun rights, against the Marshall-Newman "marriage" amendment, and for a woman's right to reproductive choice (Webb believes that abortions should be "safe, legal and rare"). In sum, Webb believes in personal privacy and is against unnecessary government intrusion in our lives.

3) Jim Webb will fight for the American worker in an age of economic globalization, outsourcing, and a widening income inequality that Webb calls the "Three Americas." Webb is pro-labor and against providing tax breaks to big corporations (ExxonMobil, etc.) and mega-rich people (the top 1% or less of America) that don't need them. Webb will fight to restore fairness and progressivity in our economy, including raising the minimum wage.

4) As a war hero himself (Navy Cross, Silver Star), and as a man with "skin in the game" (his son Jimmy is a U.S. Marine in Iraq), Jim Webb will fight harder than anyone in Congress for our soldiers and our veterans. Webb will push to provide our soldiers in harms way with adequate equipment, including top-notch body armor. Webb will propose a 5% tax break for veterans who have served honorably. Webb will fight for a GI Bill for today's veterans that will grant these veterans the same benefits as those from World War II, including full tuition benefits, the purchase of textbooks, and a monthly living stipend.

5) Jim Webb supports stem cell vital research to cure terrible diseases. Webb specifically supports embryonic stem cell research, which scientists and medical researchers believe holds the most promise in combatting Juvenile Diabates, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, paralysis, and many other conditions. Webb does not support human cloning, but he DOES support Federal funding for embryonic stem cell research.

6) Jim Webb will work to restore Congress' role in our Constitutional system of checks and balances. As a U.S. Senator, Webb will be an independent voice and a counterweight to Presidents of EITHER party who exceed their authority and act without adequately involving Congress. In general, Webb will fight for Congress' role as a co-equal branch of government, which it is supposed to be but which it has NOT been the past six years.

7) Jim Webb will root out corruption, waste, fraud and abuse wherever he finds it. And he will look for it tirelessly. Along these lines, Webb - a man who personally cannot be bought - has proposed forming a modern-day "Truman Commission" to investigate how contracts were awarded to companies like Halliburton in Iraq. In addition, Webb will work to rein in the out-of-control influence of money in politics, including the power of lobbyists like Jack Abramoff and special interests like Big Oil. This is all part of Webb's philosophy that his job in Washington DC will be to work for the people and those WITHOUT a voice in the corridors of power, not the powerful and well-connected.

8) Jim Webb will work across the aisle with his friend Chuck Hagel, with people like John McCain and Russ Feingold, to restore an era of bipartisan civility and cooperation for the good of our country. Webb will do this as a strong, principled, and independent Democrat, something we sorely need in Washington DC these days. In all this, Jim's model will be people like Mark Warner, who believes in working with anyone who can help move us "forward, together."

9) Jim Webb will fight to recapture the American dream for every man woman and child in the nation. This means working for equal opportunity for all, combined with equal responsibliity. This does NOT mean special rights, but it DOES mean a top-notch education for every child in America, plus quality health care that can't be taken away. It also means fighting to ensure that our children and grandchdldren do not begin their lives saddled with a huge debt (a "birth tax") that they are forced to work their entire lives paying off. Last but not least, it means Affirmative Action for African Americans, as a unique program for a unique group that suffered the terrible "badge of slavery" in this nation's history.

10) Jim Webb will restore sanity and realism to our foreign policy, as opposed to the strange, starry-eyed theories of the "neo-conservatives" and others (like George W. Bush and George Allen). As someone who opposed the invasion of Iraq beginning in 2002, based on his belief that such an invasion and occupation of an Arab/Muslim country would turn into a strategic quagmire and a disaster, Webb has proven that he "gets it" on foreign policy and national security. As our next U.S. Senator, Webb will work to reorient our foreign and national security policies to ones that defend American interests while simultaneously restoring our position as a moral leader of the world. Regarding the latter point, Webb understands that it's not just "hard power" that makes a nation strong, but at least as much it's "soft power" - our economy, our diplomacy, our attractiveness as a Democarcy, our willingness to sit down and negotiate even with our enemies - that helps keep us safe and secure in a dangerous world.

All in all, it's time for a positive change in America, and Jim Webb will bring that change. Vote Jim Webb on November 7!

[UPDATE: Reason #11 is that Jim Webb is one of the bravest and most honest men I've ever met, with more integrity in his pinky than BushAllen has in its/their raised middle finger(s). Jim Webb can NOT be bought or compromised. Jim's friends say that if he told a lie, his nose would fall off of his head. Wouldn't you like someone like that representing you in the US Senate?]

Jim Webb can NOT be bought or compromised

Webb on Bill Clinton:

"the most corrupt administration in modern memory."

"It is a pleasurable experience to watch Bill Clinton finally being judged, even by his own party, for the ethical fraudulence that has characterized his entire political career,"

There's more but you get the idea, Webb wasn't a fan of Clinton's, then.

Now Bill and Hillary do a fundraiser for Webb and he is chummy with them.

Not comprimised or bought? It looks like duck, walks like duck.......

Take a closer look at the first post, 7 out of 10 are related to the economy. Not only that, but they try to show improvements to the economy, not accounting for the massive job losses that characterized his first 5 years in office. In addition, I find it totally appaling that Republicans are touting a $248 billion deficit as somehow a success. We wouldn't even have that kind of deficit if we didn't spend approximately $200 million a day in Iraq.:banghead:

People state that tax cuts are good. Yes, if you don't spend more, but as it is Bush is cutting taxes and spending more, deficit spending = the government's CREDIT CARD.

People want to claim that the Republican party is the party of "Family Values", well, I grew up in a small Midwestern town that has never had a Democrat in office. You know what my parents' number one family value is? DO NOT SPEND MORE THAN YOU MAKE.

Democrats may tax and spend, but that's a heck of a lot better for us, our kids, and their kids than just spend and spend.

While there may be 10 reasons (most of which are ridiculous distortions of the economic situation) to vote Republican, as of today there are more than 2831 reasons to vote Democrat, which equals the number of DEAD U.S. SOLDIERS IN IRAQ.
:cuss:

The economy looks good, but so does my bank account when I put all my bills on credit cards!:what:

I agree that the GOP has let us down.

BUT

Voting for the Dems is like getting mad at your wife so you go out and sleep with a prostitute out of spite and anger; then in the morning you find out you married her.

Jim Webb in VA is not like that at all, particularly on gun rights.

"Stay the course"?

What, add another 2,831?

Not all Democrats are evil, not all Republicans are good.

I assess my representatives like I assess other people, one at a time, person by person.

Well the problem with voting on individuals is that parties do not operate that way, for the most part, once they're in power. *Most* will toe the party line.

You, therefore, must evaluate your vote based on party policy, not individual viewpoints.

If a politician were truly independent in their views they'd run as an independent.

Exactly, except, as I pointed out, it is much more difficult to run as an independent or third party candidate. I've checked out these new voting machines and have discovered that it is relatively easy for a voter to choose someone who is less in the mainstream or even "none of the above".
