I am unaware of any "Castle Law" statute - the general assembly rejected one last year.

However, according to a GWU law professor at the recent Second Amendment Symposium at GMU, only 2 states have a duty to retreat inside one's home, and VA is not one of them.

how safe woudl a Virginia resident be in defending themselves from attack? at their home, on the job, in thier car?

Yeah, I kind of figured that. But my answer is still the same. If I am attacked with deadly force or bodily injury, I plan on returning the favor. I will have to let the lawyers clean up the mess. Most of the cases here in Virginia favor your right to defend yourself, but you never know.
