I'm tempted to go to this, I'd like to see who is fighting the good fight across the river.

Montgomery Citizens for a Safer Maryland is having a holiday get together - there will be MSI folks there as well as other pro-gun folks to network with:
The monthly MCSM meeting is Tuesday 12/12/2006 at the WheatonAmerican Legion Post at 7PM.http://www.mcsm.org/location.htmlAs customary the December meeting will be more of aHoliday gathering than an MCSM business meeting.
Feel free to bring friends along who might be interested in meetingsome MCSM members in this social setting.
Let me know if you and guests can come so I will have some idea ofthe attendance for the food and beverage needs.

I'm not sure what ax you have to grind, but MCSM is a pro-RKBA group last I checked. I'm pretty sure they aren't out to take anyones rights away. If you know something different speak up.

Ok I revoked my last statement. My apologizies. However I would like to make some statements. First off, the problem in Maryland pretty much stems from the lack of organization with people on the issue. As i've stated before in the DC topic, you knwo the crime problem is a problem that can and should be solved using a new strategy, the strategy that is going to cost the county, state, and federal governments the least amount of money when you figure it up in the long run.

Option A. Maryland Legislature passes the Castle Doctrine into law here in Maryland. Maryland Legislature makes Maryland a Shall Issue state. Maryland also makes into law open carry legal. Crime rate will spike perhaps at first but the criminals will get the message and it will go down to unprecedented levels. Communities will be safer and we can go to a message of crime prevention, protect yourself programs rather than cease fire campaign. Its a joke, at least to the people who live in Seat Pleasant and Oxen Hill. Its going to be hard for the whole state to understand that you know people can and will defend themselves once these sets of laws take effect.

Option B. You can continue on the current path. Hire more police, hire more crime scene investigators, and coroners. Build more jails so that the ones that are already overcrowded as is can continue to stay the same. Allow the criminals and convicted felons to continue on their path of destruction till it gets to the point where you have to use the national guard to patrol some of these neighborhoods because your average police officer or law abiding citizen won't drive in there. I know of places like that in DC, you know the SE area, where the police will pull you over and ask you if you if you are lost and have a death wish driving through some of thoseneighborhoods. I would imagine that you will have to hire about 30,000 police officers for the boston tactic to work in your average criminal infested county. Basically it will never end until there is a deterent. Maryland attempting to repeal the death penalty or fighting for the rights of convicted felons so that they may vote in elections? Oh and yeah, ban all the guns, im sure the crime rate will surely drop then... ---

Point being... There needs to be more done about it. As far as letters to the editors of the newspapers, digging up and citing state law, citing statistics. What is the average response time of a police patrol car in PG county? In Montgomery? Charles? Figuring out how many crimes are actually committed with firearms, and how many could have been prevented because the individual was attacked. I have a feeling that we aren't going to get anywhere with the state representatives, and if that was the case then attempting to make Maryland a shall issue state would have happened already. The key is changing the minds of the public. Information warfare, informing the public of what has gone on over the years, and educating them on why it is happening, and making people call up teh offices and ask why they are set up to live defenseless against the animals that are running loose over here. Hold public officials accountable for their track record, if we get enough support things will change, but you know in todays society you must educate people of what is really happening and you know getting them away from watching the communist news network, etc and getting them focused on you know hey, I live in a bad place. Maybe I should attempt to do something about this. I guess someone mentioned somewhere that suing is out of the question... so you know it would be interesting to gain public support I think the most effective way is going to be through letters to the editor of news papers and whatnot. Figure out which newspapers in the Washington DC/MD area will print letters to the editor that are pro 2nd amendment, because after all the anti gun lobby definately has their say as to what is said, or public opinion as it stands would not be content with the status quo as far as the laws that are in place are concerned.
